Quick automatic question!

As this is my first automatic I need to aska simple question. When stationary and in drive the car will move forward at about 4mph if i don't have my foot on the brake - is this right?

If you are in drive, the car is in gear and if you do not hold the brake pedal it will roll forward.

manual > automatic

it's like when you engage the clutch in 1st gear in 6MTand dont push any gas, it'll roll forward too

+1 that is how i teach people to drive stick. 1st lesson is using just the clutch to move the car to learn how to modulate it and to get a feel for the catch point.

Perfectly normal.

Think of an automatic as a fluid coupling between the engine and the drive. The engine drives a big fan that blasts hydraulic fluid at another fan which causes the drive train to rotate and the car to go. Unless you stop the engine it will always be driving that fan and so putting a bit of drive into the system (in simple terms).
