Wrap your car meet!

Hey guys,

Just was stumbling on ideas for the next mods I would like to do and came across this idea. Would anyone be down to have a wrap your car meet? All we would need is a solid weekend and a couple guns + a couple cars+ vinyl. I would be more then willing to offer my garage for this and am located in Reston, Va. I have been wanting to wrap my car for quite some time but just am not comfortable nor do i have any experience with vinyl work. I was thinking of a 3M matte white or Oracal Ice blue. Let me know your thoughts!

Are you looking to wrap your entire car, or just the trim / roof, etc? I'd love to get my roof in a matte or glossy black, but I suck at these types of DIY.

BTW, if you don't have it already, I have a roll of of 3M white matte and a roll of white glossy vinyl I got from 3M (54in by 5yd). Not sure if that's enough, but its just laying around at home.

Rich (Xyr03) did his own wrapping and got his e92 as car of the month. Reach out to him. I'm thinking about wrapping mine to the orange on the gts.

Rich(xyr03) did his recently in matte white. But it also took him a while with 4-6 guys. If you want a car wrapping meet expect it to be over a couple of days. To do a complete car in one day it'll take at least 8 hours of work with no mistakes. Pieces though are different and easier. Just depends on how prepped the car or piece is. If you wanna do your roof you're going to need to wash, clay bar, wash and some people like to wax before putting the wrap on. Interior pieces you just need to have the piece off, wipe off with diluted rubbing alcohol with water. But interior trim still takes up too 2 hours.

What phil said is very true. Wrapping a car is not a very easy job on a busy schedule (I'm sure someones gonna quote this and say how they wrapped their car in one day). If you DD the car, plan on having the car sit around for a couple of day unless you wanna drive your car half ass done. I had a beater so this wasn't an issue. I just finished wrapping my car in matte white and it was a PITA, and its still a PITA to keep it clean. I'm not saying that WRAPPING A CAR IS IMPOSSIBLE but it takes some time. If the OP is planning on a "help me wrap my car meet" with people that has never touched vinyl in their life OP should expect alot of scrap and buy extra vinyl. I say do it why not?? Send an email out ot autovinylsoultions.com and ask for adam he'll hook you up.

Thanks for the input guys! I appreciate all your thoughts. I was talking about a meet to wrap whole cars. I know it sounds crazy and will take alot of time but that's why I was talking about a whole weekend. If doing interior trim sounds more reasonable let's just go ahead and do that. I want to wrap mine in brushed aluminum and am about to order the vinyl tonight. Let me know!!

I peeled off my cf wrap and wrap the whole thing in brush graphite and it looks good. It's a little too stock for the look I'm pulling off now so I might end up wrapping matte white. But post some pics after ur done. You'll see what I'm talking about when u start wrapping. I hope u have a lot of patience bro. GL

wrapping isn't a joke. I do paint protection all day long and even at times wrapping roof can get tricky. Nothing is impossible if you have the time and money to do it over and over until you get it right. So yeah, i would love to see an orange gts color bmw in this area. I am so tempted to do that to my ride.

I've wrapped my interior trim. Much much easier than doing the exterior. Hit me up if you want me to help.

I'm going to tackle my interior trim pretty soon in CF 1080 print. I have the vinyl but have to wait for the 3M Primer as I couldn't find it anywhere locally. I would love to join up with you guys but I have a pretty hectic schedule, I would definitely try to stop by though - just to meet some folks here and learn some best practices.

Haven't ever vinyled anything big but did do some smaller pieces around the house just to get some experience with the materials.

BTW Rich - saw your car and it looks pretty amazing, ballsy to go with white though since you can't Sharpie your way out of knicks and dings (but I guess there's always white out!)
