Actually, that might not be so desireable as the intake gets all kinds of attention as it is at the track when the hoods open after a run.
Yea I don't doubt that it's worth it one bit... I'm not sure if anyone has been able to replicate the Mr 5 intake setup for the 135i's. I guess we'll have to wait and see what Cobb officially recommends for stage 2 maps.

Stage 2 will have 2 different requirements depending on the 2 maps they will be offering.

All i know is for the "race" version map it requires Turbo back exaust (that means downpipes and catback exhaust), FMIC, Intake. I cant remember what the other requires. I would venture to say Downpipes and FMIC as a minimum.

50/50 mix and smaller nozzle.

Figure ignition will be set on OTS maps so you just want to ensure you are hitting max ignition and controlling IAT.

depends what nozzle you are using now. i would use a 5 or 7 max . you can still limit it with the controller. just read up on it .

If this unicorn called Cobb stage 2 ever comes out I'm going with a DO1 nozzle. All I want is cooler charge temps since the thing is tuned conservatively for pump + Fbo. Considering it's tuned for pump it won't really matter if the meth kit fails either.

I'm thinking that Cobb is-has the potential for-monitoring so many data channels that surely it wouldn't be a big deal to have an automatically switched meth tune that would instantly fall back to a default table under certain conditions (e.g., rapid rise in IAT, etc.)

Or like I recommended numerous times a bypass solenoid connected to a flow sensor.

is there an off the shelf solution for such a configuration with a flash tune, I hear yes and no... whats the definitive conclusion?

There is no IF. Hope you like unicorns. :]

cobb ap + PPK hardware set up

Hey fellas, was hoping you guys would be able to chim in on a few questions i had about purchasing COBB AP.

I bought a used 335xi that came installed with BMW performance kit. Searching through the forums I was able to pull some info on tunes that were capable of combining the hardware from the PPK with a more aggressive tune. I was not able to find anyone who had run this set up.

Now im not trying to stack the tunes, i understand that once i use COBB AP, i will lose the software tune i gained from PPK. But what I was hoping for was to use COBB AP and keep the function of my upgraded fan, +1 radiator, and have the potential to push for more power down the line. Is this possible with the combo of COBB AP + PPK hardware?

appreciate those who can shed some light. i'd probably just keep the PPK if it werent for wanting to do other bolt-ons.

I believe an upgraded fan and radiator will only help with cooling of the engine temps with little to no benifit to actually expanding the engines max safe power potential. You would need to improve the engines ability to breath (intake, fmic, dps, exhaust, turbos, etc to aid in this.

you need a fmic to have ppk and it does have pe exhaust, was hoping to do dp and custom midpipe.

but to stay on topic, does the upgraded fan and radiator continue to work without ppk software?

The PPK does not include a new IC, so you have the same stock one everyone else has. Same upgrade recommendations apply.

COBB will change the software with ppk and make a specific DME map for it that works with the fan/extra water cooling. no issues at all . Same as GIAC did. The performance part will however be COBB and not PPK .

I want to try V202 93 Alternate Throttle V1 to see if that helps my problem as indicated here.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=337084

I've tried both 91 and 93 from V203 and the jerking/stutter issue finally got me to remove it last night. Not up for sale yet.
Where do I find V202 ? Searched COBB site and only 203 avail, and of 3.0 beta maps.

All this stage 2 talk made me bite the bullet and install my AP. Went with v203 default throttle mapping 93 octane. My timing flatline issues from piggyback are gone! Also this thing is deceptively quick.

Ran 3rd gear deep into 4th at 6600 RPM and I had zero throttle closures, boost peaked at 13.69 psi at 5200ish, timing 4.8 ramping to around 9 at redline, recovering perfectly post-shift. IAT started at 85 degrees only hit 104 at 6600 RPM in 4th gear.

Then again, this could all be placebo considering I haven't run a tune in almost six weeks!
