Five months ago I retrofitted exterior auto-dimming and folding mirrors.

Three months I retrofitted the interior auto-dimming with the purpose of enabling the exterior mirrors.

The interior mirror worked w/o coding, but the dealer informed me that the exteriors would not dim due to the footwell module (FRM) and JBE missing specific components.

They attempted it by adding the proper code to the VO, but no luck. BMW in germany confirmed, NOT possible.

(I always doubted this since the EPK does not specify different parts w/ or w/o those options)

Well, I was coding my car (corner delete, wiper end position, door gong, etc) today and noticed the CAS->SPIEGEL_ELEKTROCHROM code, but this wasn't present in my CAS module.

But I did find it in my FRM trc file. Changed this to aktiv and guess what? THE EXTERIOR MIRRORS DIM!

I am way to excited by this, but damn it's been a long time coming.

Nope, just bought the new switch, exterior housings, and electrochromatic and heated glass.

My mirrors have the LIN bus running to them from the footwell module, so no additional wiring was necessary, everything is sent over the bus.

The interior and exterior mirrors dim together, using the sensor built into the interior mirror.
