how much weight is acceptable to add to a rim to balance it?
i am looking to get a set of m6 rims for my 335 and i have heard stories about some of the replica rims, csl, miro etc, needing 4 to 5 ounces of weight per rim to balance
when this is done you will almost 100% have vibration that will never go away. plus the fact that you have all these additional weights that can pop off, which i have seen happen over bumps how are the m6 rims from either **********s or jlevi? do both these companies sell the same m6 rims, or are they from different manufactures? should i go with one or the other? i would ask both these companies but there both going to say there rims are better and to buy from them anyways i just dont want to order these rims and have to add toms of weights or have noticable vibration i know there replicas, but there still going to cost me $800 . |

Weights are added to balance the wheel tire combination because it is very rare that any wheel/tire combination is balanced for its entire mass.
Not really a dumb question as it is a fact of life. I don't think there is a set answer as there are so many variables between the wheels construction as well as the tire's. |

Keep in mind that balancing your wheel also has to do with the brand of tire you're putting on and also the method by which it is balanced. I prefer the Hunter GSP9700 system for getting my wheels setup http://www.gsp9700.com/
It looks like the best solution for you is to get tires/wheels (mounted & balanced) at the same time from the vendor. This way, you're assured that there won't be any balance/vibration when the wheels are put on the car.
