Replacing valve cover gasket. What else to get?

Fixing a leaking valve cover gasket on my daughters e90. Pre-ordering the parts now. What else should I replace while I'm in there?

Hard to say without knowing how many miles, what year the car is, or what has already been replaced. That aside, plugs and coils are an easy side job. Go with Eldor or Bosch coils…not too expensive and reliable. You could probably use a new PCV as well.

Yes, do the eccentric shaft sensor. I just picked up my E91 and the dealership I purchased from replaced the valvecover gasket. Unfortunately, an hour into my drive to bring the car home, I started getting misfires and loss of power. Turns out its my ESS and the dealership did not know to replace it. So now, I have to replace the valve cover gasket anyways to replace the sensor. I am currently in the middle of it, but also just found out that the vanos bolts are known to fail on n52 motors if the car is between 2009 and 2011. Check to see if your car is in the recall. They neglected to include e91's for some reason so I am currently replacing those vanos bolts while I have the valve cover off.

Also, might want to grab some BMW grease for the valvetronic motor worm gear. I have been searching high and wide for alternatives and no one seems to know. I am actually about to make a post about it now.
