It's well worth doing Matt, it was probably the one best 'mod' I've done to my car.
4hrs taking it easy we could have it installed

Alpine upgrade with pro sat nav and phone
I read a post that said once you fitted the Alpine upgrade the phone on the professional sat nav becomes very quiet. Has anyone else had this problem

I have an E90 from 11/2006 and installed ALPINE kit , can someone tell me what are the coding for this? I'm using the kit without coding until now, but I'm interested to do some coding to improve sound quality.

there is no coding involved in this (unless they changed it for an 09/2007 e92) it takes the signal from the speaker cable to the amplifier and then takes it back to the speaker so the car doesn't even know it is installed, you may want to look at adjusting bass and treble but I quite like the sound of the stereo since I installed mine

I was thinking maybe we can activate the advanced equalizer and maybe we can make it working. And so we can improve sound quality. I tried coding the CAPPL with e90_hifi to AUDIO_SYSTEM but... nothing happen .

Help in install
I recently got the alpine retrofit and installed it in E90 LCI, part num 65410445684. Also got 2 new HI Fi subs under the seat. After the install the tweeters sound great and also the new subs are perfect, but i dont get any sound from the mid range speaker? is that normal or did i install something wrong?
help would be appreciated |

There is coding involved with the newer (post-3/09) kit. Not sure what it does, exactly, but it's in the service document. |

It probably just changes the head units output, the head unit boosts the frequencies over 10Khz to make up for lack of tweeters.
I bet if you listen to a set up that isn't coded you will hear too much top end on it compared to one that is. That would be my guess anyway. |

Anyway, I'd be happy to share the document with you, but it is just over the maximum file size allowed for pdf attachments. I can send it to you if you like, if you PM me your email address or something. |

I don't believe there is any difference with the amplifier among the two kits; the wiring harness changed from a cut-and-splice type to a PnP harness for post 3/09 builds. The switch position only affects subwoofer attenuation.

I agree that everything between the two kits appears the same except for the wiring harness, but for some reason the instructions differ in regards to switch position and also whether or not coding is req'd. I don't pretend to understand why, but it's there in black and white. I wish I could manage to upload both service documents to this thread, but attachments have always been a PITA for me on these boards... |
