bmw 335i mods from america
hi guys i am buying a 335i very soon in alpine white and coral red leather!!! was wondering if anyone has bought mods for there cars from america? do you have to pay customs? i am thinking of buying some rims from there and maybe some more parts eg spoilers!! i can save a lot of money if you buy in america!!! any good websites?

You can get what you want if you request the item to be marked as a gift. However you can still get stung if customs decide to have a look at your item. As they perform random searches. I know Royal Mail will charge you a levy on top of customs taxes due. I'm sure other couriers do the same. But if you can get away with it go for it!

I have also recently purchased the SmartTOP module for the 'vert (not fitted as yet) and they used DHL - a £205 module attracted £46 worth of fees before they would hand it over. I asked why they would not send it as a gift and they claimed it was illegal and lots of US firms are getting fines - since 9/11 it appears that a very high proportion of parcels are inspected either by xray or even opened. The firms can get fined if the goods value differs from the docket declared value. hope this helps Paul |
