Oil Changes / Buying filters

Why are oil changes $100 each? I just got that quote from Morristown BMW service dept.

Any place on the internet or dealership that I can buy a dozen of filters at a good price?

Can anybody recommend any dealership that charges reasonable for oil changes? Mine would only charge $100 even if I have my oil. Is there a place I can go to have my oil changed (I provide the oil and filter, just need the labor)? I'm in Jersey and not sure where to take my car to.

That is crazy. I only paid $86 for one which is only $25 for labor. The rest is materials. See link http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17443

I got all my filters from Circle BMW but you could try Morristown BMW as well. They have some pretty low pricing on Ebay I have noticed.

is the one on bavauto.com's filter BMW OEM? I tried Turner Motorsport but it's not BMW brand.

They didn't and wouldn't tell me what the $100 is for. I asked morristown parts about the filters, they said they don't sell the filters cheaper (list price is $12.98 each). But I prefer to talk to Nick, the parts manager. Probably he can hook me up. How much is the filters at circle bmw?

How often are you going to be changing the oil?

thanks natureboy. I'll order from bavauto.com. BTW, do we have to do any computer reset on the idrive after an oil change? Can I just take it to any place to change the oil (nothing different from other cars?)

Even if it's fully synthetic, I'd like to keep the oil as clean as possible. One of the easiest and cheapest way to prevent mechanical failures. My previous car was never in for any problems, only for rattles. Hopefully it'll be the same for this car.

So the OBC resets the service countdown automatically without you initiating anything?

hey guys...i just found out that morristown bmw has the best prices. 6.56 for oil filters and 4.16 for oil. I bought some from them.

The bottom of teh car is painted black, so in order to let the oil go, you must unscrew the bottom oil pan. This will break the "paint seal"......do you guys know if this will be a problem with the dealer?

Huh? Did you look at the DIY oil change thread here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4768

There's a simple trap door that you open and the drain bolt is right there. While the trap door is black, in the picture, the bolt doesn't look black.

There is a drain bolt. DO NOT unscrew your oil pan.
