Fuel Door Locking Pin

I was washing my car and when I got to the fuel door, I noticed that it kept on opening every time I pass through it. So, I thought I didn't lock the car. I went to my keys and locked the car and that should lock the fuel door too right?...nope. The door still kept on opening when I push on it while the car is locked. So I investigated abit more and realized that the little black pin that locks it is broken off. It doesn't reach all to the way to the door to lock it. Now, for my question; where can I find this part and how hard would it be to replace. Thank you.

This might help...

But id say you'd have to remove some trim from inside the trunk to access that area

I'm in the same boat... the pin/rod/whatever it is that extends into the flap area when the car is locked, is broken off, so mine is always unsecure. I'm not great at reading part diagrams, but I'd hope it would be able to replace the pin/rod without replacing the whole "actuator"? #5 points to that cable/rod, but is labeled "actuator" and priced at $57. To me "actuator" means the electronic/motorized mechanism, can you not get the cable/rod/pin part without buying the motorized part as well?

I only buy gas a couple times a month so I'm thinking about getting an old-school keyed locking gas gap. Some crackheads siphoned gas out of a neighbor's car recently. I'm wondering if mine was broken on a gas theft (or attempt), perhaps on prior owner in Boston area - and if I go through the trouble of fixing mine, that it might just get busted open again. I thought I lived in a nice neighborhood in quiet little Vermont but our petty crime is getting out of hand
