This is really getting annoying to have a relatively new BMW that makes more noise than a NYC taxi!!! Like others have mentioned, the sound only occurs while driving a low speed and actually goes away when I apply the brakes. Previously, it seemed to be related to frequent stop and go driving. Now it seems to start anytime I drive for more than 10 minutes or so.

The strange thing is that I have never heard this sound from any of the BMW (all E90) loaners that I have recieved. I will try again to find a solution to this problem.
I had the same exact problem with my E90 335i, (different brakes than 330i though). They ended up replacing the rear rotors and pads. 5000miles later and the sound has not come back. Can you tell if it is coming from the rear?

Yes, it is definitely coming from the rear. Because the sound does not occur while braking and is only heard while driving at low speeds, they did work on my parking brake on one of the previous service visits. That seemed to only work for a brief period.

I was hoping this was only a problem on early production cars (I have a July 2005 build) and that newer cars like your 335i would be corrected. At this point, I just want a permanent fix. I would hate to go through the trouble of getting new brakes and the problem comes back in a few thousand miles. Either way, I am definitely taking it back to the dealer!

I would mention to them the possibility of changing the rotors and pads. I know that the 335i brakes are different than the 330i but the fix worked for me. It was incredibly annoying to be driving around a parking lot, and to hear my brakes squeal constantly(without them being applied).

I have this exact issue, its only been recently that my car has been making this squealing noise though, and i have 14k miles on my car. I did schedule an appointment with the dealer to take a look at this issue. I guess I shouldn't be expecting much from what i read here.

Oh the memories...

They never did fix this one for me, I had much larger issues like over heating to deal with, than some squeaky breaks. You guys have it lucky.

took a drive with the foreman today to show him the problem. indeed, he recognized the problem right away... but said theres nothing he can do except clean the brakes and glue. BUT that i am 3k miles over the warranty line so unless im willing to pay 128 dollars an hour to find out "exactly" what the problem is... and then also pay for cleaning and copper adhesive... he said its a lose situation.

lol so guess what i did?! i called my papa! and asked him to come down and yell at these fools out about how this is bmw's fault. haha, he came and yelled at my sa and the foreman. "this is bullshit, i expect this from a chevy but not an performance bmw"

lol, the foreman said he agreed and that he was very sorry and that other people have had the same problem.

this was at assael btw, worst dealership ever. will go to new century from now. =\

The short story.

Each event happened each time I would pick up the coupe from the Dealership for repairs due to the preceding event on exactly the same day of picking up the car within or up to 25 miles from the dealer.

The initial event that lead to me going to the dealer was a tapping sound from the rear axle/rear wheels and tires which they never got to repair as these more important items arose.

I've notices that around 0 - 10 mph, [e92-335i-9000miles] will present me with a squeak. This squeak is loud, loud enough to be heard with no music, no conversation, and windows closed, from the passenger side. I'm guessing it's coming from the front/passenger side wheel. Any guesses on the problem?

Thanks,
X E I O
I am having the same problem...I am going to bring it up with my dealer when I bring it in for the oil cooler and idrive update.

I forgot all about this thread...

Update:
When I took the car to the dealer, iDrive was still showing about 9-10K miles remaining on the front and rear pads. However, they found that my brakes were below BMW specs and had to replace the front and rear brake pads, rotors, and the brake sensors. Since then, I have hear NO SQUEAKS.

Lets just hope that this problem with the sensors doesn't come back again.

Was this a BMW mistake? I thought BMW doesn't make mistakes.
Since when does BMW not make mistakes. This comment really made me chuckle.

So when I got my rear pads replaced, the persistent squeak without applying brakes stopped. However, although 90% of the time there's no squeak now, it does squeak when applying the brakes lightly (not when firmly pressed) at a slow speed (like <20mph).

I knew the squeak wouldn't go away for good lol

Glad I finally saw this thread. I posted this same issue a little bit ago in this thread...http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68322 Guess I should search better. Anyway, took it to the dealer and they couldn't reproduce the problem either. With so many people having this isuue, you'd think they'd be familiar with it. They acted like they didn't know what it was and sent me home. I guess I'll have to give one of the techs a ride so they hear it themselves. Then we'll see if they just clean stuff or replace them.

so i got my car back from the dealer today. they replaced the brake sensors..said that they were rubbing against the rotors. the brakes are now silent when applied, but after 10-20 mins of driving, i still get that squeak at low speeds WITHOUT the brakes applied.

it seems like replacing a full set of pads and rotors is the only fix...

holy shit i thought this was just me....the way you described it is exactly how it is with me. although i never knew it was coming from the brakes. it only makes the squeaking sound on the right side though...

when i bring my car in i hope they dont blame it for the aftermarket wheels or coilovers....

After having the rear rotors and pads replaced, the sound has come back after ~7000miles. Except now it is on the drivers side rather than the passenger.

Isn't there a way to adjust the balance (front/rear) of the braking system? Could that be part of the problem?

My G35 6MT Coupe breaks were squeaking so bad and after 3 times getting the dealer to look at them resulting in 2 cleanings and a pad replacement; still kept squeaking. Told them that when the neighbors heard the car slowing to take the corners around the block; they all expected to see an early model Neon come down the street.... no just '05 G35 6MT Coupe.... crappola.
