335xi v rwd
Before I make a decision, does anyone have any thoughts on what I should consider?
I know Xi is heavier, some complications regarding parts, and I don't need an Xi where I live but what about for modding purposes? I've seen they can launch pretty well... |

It's all up to you. I prefer the XI over the I for daily driving and track use. You don't have to wary about wheel spin when boost kicks in. I have seen numerous 335I's totaled on this forums over the last few years due to people loosing control under boost. With the XI it goes straight as an arrow. Also 60's times are much better usually 1.8 to a best of 1.6 with the XI on run-flat tires. You won't be able to do the same without slicks on the I model. Again this is my personal opinion and preference everyone is different.

XI is superior for a daily and street drivability with bolt on type mods. If race car/all out street meaning most aggressive set up (upgraded turbo's pushing high psi), RWD with differential upgrade would be the way to go again, IMO/.

RWD can take more power and has less drivetrain loss/weight AWD can grip better on launches, but then again, has more drivetrain loss and more weight so it kind of evens out If you cant drive a rwd car with proper tires in the weather, not like an AWD is going to help you out much either. As for not spinning the tires, you just arent trying. I can spin all 4 tires in my XI |

If your looking for Stage 2+ twins/Single plus meth inlets FBO then RWD Manual is your best bet.
If you want a launch monster for racing kids off stop lights then Awd auto FBO with custom E85 is your pick. Huge power AWD is huge money as drivetrain replacements are needed. Couple guys have done stage 2's with inlets on awd and will prolly run 10's in the quarter this fall. |

I have an XI and I got it to drive it in the winter. Didn't plan on taking it this far, but it's VERY fast off a dig. Nobody wants to race from a dig with me, so the power is basically pointless. Haven't broken any drivetrain parts yet, but I expect to soon. If I had the choice, I would get a RWD in a 6 speed.

I love my XI and it's great in our Ohio winters, but I hate having to drop the sub-frame for various mods as I don't have access to a lift. RWD cars get away without having to drop the sub frame for down pipe removal/upgrades and probably several other things...

I have a modified XI. With good summer tires and a little patience, wheel spin/traction nannies are not an issue. With snow tires, the car will take anything winter can throw at it. But, suspension modifications are a bit limited compared to a Non-XI 335. Given that I'm not the only driver of my XI and it has a ton of power, I think XI is the better decision for me where I live. If I was the only driver, had little to no snow or was truly worried about pulling every last bit of handling out of my suspension, I'd go with non-xi if I could find a good one. In either case, a good set of winter tiers is critical because even with XI, stopping on ICE is tough without proper tiers.

Would you expect a 1/4 mile for my car at about 12.5?

Xi for a daily driver is the best. With a tune only you can have 0-60 times in the low 4 second range. FBO and good tune will get you into the 3's. It takes an expensive sports car to beat that and they would have to be very skilled not to get wheel spin. If I was going to track my car, I would want an I though. It would be much better for a large track. Around town the XI is a blast!

I had a 328xi 6mt and upgraded to a 335i 6mt and I must say I love the RWD. Plus alot less stuff to break as I bought both mine at 75k. Drifting around corners is also a plus
