After some cheap steel wheels for winter
Had a look on eBay but cannot seem to find anything.
Can anyone help or point me in the right direction? Car is an E90 320D and has 205/55 R16 wheels on it. Can i just buy any set of 205/55 R16 steel wheels without tyres on them?

Dont forget to tell your insurance company if you are changing wheels (stupid, but you do).
This is why I would be more tempted to get a second hand set of alloys that are an option/standard on your car, and then you dont need to do this. |

I should have a spare set or two of e36 17's this winter from my track car build if anyone is interested in borrowing them. They're a bit scabby looking but they'll do the job.

I have the standard 16" SE alloys, i seen a set for sale on here the other day for £100. If i got them, and got winter tyres fitted to them, then I wouldn't have to inform my insurance? I'm with Admiral BTW... |

It's a stupid greay area. In the rest of Europe it is a legal requirment to put winter tyres on.
I think you have more chance of them being ok with just changing tyres - especially when it makes your car safer in the winter. Each insurance company treats the situation differently. Personally when I put winter wheels on the Audi TT we had, I didnt bother as they were on OEM alloys. Problem is once you have mentioned it, you are stuffed if they say you have to pay extra! Let us know what they say, if you do speak to them! |

LOL you'll have a wait for a few months before I do!!
I may just end up sticking the tyres on current alloys to be honest cos my plan is to change the alloys maybe next year when I need new regular tyres n e way (id like to go up to maybe 18's) So ill use current alloys possibly and doesnt matter if they get scuffed etc (they're already quite badly scuffed n e way!)
