Xdrive failure???

Guys...I turned on the car after driving it to work this morning and got the below lights. After reading the manual it shows X-drive failure as the 4x4 and the DSC failure as well as low brakes...has any one had this happen? Is this going to cost me an arm and a leg or is it a simple fix?

Yup ... I got something like this after an alignment screw-up by a shop.. All sensors were going wack, is your steering wheel straight ? Hit any major potholes lately ?

Not at all.... You just need to get an alignment done to ensure the steering wheel is straight.. I think BMW charged me 129, but many indy shops do it for much less... After that's done, your warning lights should disappear - as they did for me... Good luck !

Just curious, are you running staggered wheels?

try this?
If your car was sitting for a while, start the car and turn the steering wheel while at stop all the way to the left and then all the way to the right, that should re-calibrate your wheels and remove the error.

if it doesn't, remove the battery for 24 hours, install it and try again.

How long have you been running with that setup? I've been trying to see if these awd problems have been attributed by the staggered wheels.

What's going on with your fuel? You have 90 miles to empty, but the fuel gauge tach is past the empty mark and you're driving 9 MPH with the ebrake on at 800 RPM!?

Yes, that worked but it kept happening. It's at the dealer now, turns out I have a bad sensor in the steering wheel or something, its under warranty so its fine. Thanks for all the help

@Zipstic

I have a JB4, the fuel gauge is my boost gauge, so I wasn't running boost. I was just rollin in traffic. The BRAKE light was part of the problem! haha

Update: Looks like they are having a problem programming the new module...I wonder if it has anything to do with the JB4? I did turn it off...

always pull chip prior to visit!

These lights came on when my battery went dead.

Also staggered wheels on AWD are a big NO NO, UNLESS you have the rolling diameter with 1%, if not I bet you fried that sucker.

Had the same problem, thought it was the steering angle sensor as well, but it was the motor on the transfer case that proportions the f/r torque bias. Bought a spare transfer case on ebay (was less than everyone else wanted for the motor alone) and installed it in five minutes and all has been well since then.

Turns out it was some kind of hardware failure that controls the steering sensor??? causing the problem. After a week they resolved it and now my steering feels like a brand new car!
I will grab the paper work and get the exact problem name/cause/parts they replaced if anyone is interested...

And as far as the staggered wheels go...I'm under the impression that the stock 18" sport wheel package is 8.5 front and 9.5 rear....those are the tires sizes i went with any way!

Curious about what you had to pay for a used TC.

bought my 08xi used with 55k km. have had 2 yellow warning check engines, 1 red warning, and AWD error. all after driving really hard (pushing the limit to about 140mls/h) shut off the car for few minutes and started up again. Seems to be working fine however, i do feel that the alignment is a bit off? should i re-align? especially since winter is coming..

also, when i bought my my car i got 265's on the rears and 225's on the front? is a staggered set-up really bad for an x-drive? keeping in mind that BMW x-drive is not full time all wheel drive... its no subaru

last question... looking to purchase winters for my xi coupe... i noticed that my rotors and calipers are much larger than other models... would 17' wheel style 159 fit on mine? i have sports package aswell..

thanx
