Anyone Checked Out This Week's Autocar...?

Run down on road map for new 3 and 4 series. Engines, details, etc... Killed off 30i, now 28i 2.0i turbo, but 35i 306HP 3.0i turbo. Numerous diesels and 35d as range topper at 286HP. Plus hybrid with 35i performance and 18d economy/CO2...

Looks like a 5 series - surprise!

What - the 335D still had the 286bhp engine?
I cant see that as the 5 series 535d has a 313bhp 148 CO2 engine. Surely they would fit the same engine to the F30? It doesnt make sense to make two similar engines when they can make one and fit it to both models.

Yeah, the 335d is due for a refresh IMO.

Dont think they mentioned anything about 3 cyl engines. All 2 litres in various states of tune I think. Might have to re-read it... 35d output was as published, but sure that will/can change.

I think they are officially showing the F30 for the first time at the Frankfurt motor show next month. So hopefully they will release the final engines then.

I wouldn't be surprised if this option appeared on the "4 series" (I still disagree with the naming convention.. ) which will be the sportier looking 3-er and clearly the one to go for

Whatis the 4er then - that going to be the coupe?

Agree its daft and pretty sure I remember the same rumour when the e9x came out over the e46 coupe

4 series is supposed to be coupé and convertible. Rumour of a 4 door coupé too. But, with the mental change of more than a 3 [series], they can charge lots more. Time will tell...
