Where exactly are the extra fuses? I have the piece of paper in the picture that shows the layout, but I'm not sure where the extra ones are.

It is the top 'row' shown in the picture - the ones that are not shown on the paper diagram?

Yes i think so. Any that arent shown on the diagram are spare ones.

Thanks. I certainly hope so, cause I used one of them for my blown power lock fuse! I don't want to be driving down the road tomorrow and find I pulled something important.

By the way, I can't believe that once the fuse is blown there is no way to open the doors, not even with the handle inside. I was able to get in using the separated driver key but if I would have had a passenger, they would have had to climb in/out the window. Also could be dangerous if I have my kids in the car and we need to make an exit and the freaking doors won't open. Can't believe there is no manual override.

Isn't the handle pull on the inside mechanical vs. electrical? It doesn't seem as if it is a snap unlock when you pull it but more of a mechanical linkage type resistance. Pull a second time and it is definitely mechanical.

That's what I thought too. But definitely NOT the case. No number of pulls would open the locks.

I think a lot of owners think the same thing, because it does feel mechanical when you do the double pull, that is why I was so shocked when this happened to me this afternoon. I actually had to replace the fuse by laying over the center console since I could not open the passenger door.

Doing a search on the net before I hit this forum, there were numerous complaints that I found that listed the same thing. I think it is truly is a safety issue and BMW should do something to fix it.

My right fog light isnt working, could that be a possible blown fuse? Where can i get those bigger ones such as fuse 52?

I wouldn't expect a single fog light not functioning to caused by a blown fuse. More likely a burnt out bulb. I wouldn't recommend putting in a higher rated fuse, either. You can get replacement fuses almost everywhere; Any automotive store would have them. You'd be wise to spend a fiver and get a full selection of fuses needed and keep them in a small box in the glovebox. Staples sells Really Useful Boxes (appropriate name) in various sizes including one about 1"x1"x2".

Ok thanks.

The story is, i was installing some HIDs and it was working for a minute or two, and then went out. So i replaced it back with the OEM bulb and it still wont turn on. What should i do?

yo guys, thanks for posting all this detail back in 2010. i was experiencing the blown cig lighter fuse this weekend and learned everything i needed to know from this post in five minutes. saved me a trip to the dealer and i can probably get it fixed today. thanks again for taking the time to post the details on the fuse box, which luckily I haven't had much exposure to yet. the minute she starts having any serious electrical issues I am outtie.

but this seems like an easy fuse fix. thanks!

well, i have lost power to both cigarette lighters and just swapped out the #30 fuse, which was burned out, for a new one. but that didn't bring the cig lighters back online. have you guys ever experienced this issue before?

Are there other fuses that are related to the provision of power to the cig lighters I should check out?

For example, anything upstream or nearby cig lighters that may have gotten popped when fuse #30 also popped for whatever reason?

I also have a 2006 e90 330XI. I recently purchased a higher amp car charger for my phone which was pulling 4.2 amps. Clearly that wasn't designed properly as less than a week after using it my lighters went out. nothing else on the car seems to be malfunctioning that I noticed. so far it's just the lighters out.

thanks!

never mind. i licked it, it seems. i must have shorted the first fuse I replaced or put it in backwards or whatever as it was blown. i put another one in, had a terrifying moment when all the airbag lights came on, restarted the car and everything cleared. based on what others had said about coins and stuff I made sure all the lighters were clear before I replaced the fuse. put in a new one and it's fine. thanks again.

Isn't it great when you find a solution to your problem when others have taken the time to share their experiences?

Just following up on this - I found another site that had more detail, and words instead of pictures. It helped me find a blown fuse #34 that had turned my amp off:

Not sure, but there is a Back Up light switch that could be bad
