Does anyone successfully use BMW Routes?
I can successfully create a route online & they save to car (according to BMW Routes) - I can then see it when I go to to the car "BMW online / Routes" but they don't successfully download. The car says it's successful but the routes don't appear in "Saved Journeys"
I have managed to plan, save & download a couple of routes but most fail & I can't see what I'm doing different between success & failure. If I save the route to the computer & unzip to a USB I'm then told there's no info there so I'm guessing that the BMW website is saving corrupt data, but I can't see why - I must be doing everything correctly as I have managed a couple of routes, any ideas where I'm going wrong with the rest? Doesn't really help you much but in answer to your question, yes.
It works OK for me so I don't know what you're doing wrong. I use 'send to car' from Google more often though, I don't really see the point of the routes.

Send to car from Google Maps is fine, it's even working again on Android, but I keep making routes which I can't transfer - whether I'd ever use it in anger is unlikely, but it bugs me that I can get it to work properly

Also ...
I seem to be able to plan a route, and download it into the car. But when I try to follow my carefully planned route (eg a scenic, long way round) the nav just seems to go the most direct/quickest way. Anyone have any ideas where I'm going wrong ? |

You must have put your end destination in somehow otherwise the nav wouldn't know where to direct you in overriding the route. I just call up the route in messages, open it and select navigate route.

Thanx. Yep, it sounds like I'm not getting the "navigate route" bit, 'cos that's exactly what I want to do !! Sorry, dumb question - where is it ?? I can find the route in the car, but getting it to "navigate route" is beyond me !! Bet it's obvious, but I've missed it somehow !! I'll have another play sometime when the Xmas rush subsides !! Thanx for your help.

I think instructions must be different for every generation of Sat Nav because none of the instructions I've read match mine. The 2 routes I managed to download landed in saved journeys.
I've got 3 routes planned & saved online, all complied exactly the same way, one of them will download & the other 2 won't but I can't for the life of me figure out how they're different, apart from the route itself. |
