PROcede / JB3 + BOV = ?

Hey all,

I was just reading through the Q&A on the Vishnu website about the BMW PROcede and came across this:

Q: I am very interested on installing a BOV (Blow-off Valve), is that going to be a problem?
A: It is best for one to resist the temptation of installing an aftermarket BOV as our cars were not designed to release excess boost pressure into the atmosphere. Doing so will effect the PROcede’s tuning and cause the car to run poorly. The car was designed to recirculate that excess air back into the intake system. Bleeding off the air that was accounted for by the MAF sensor will confuse everything.

Does anyone have a PROcede and a BOV? What about a JB3 and a BOV? Are both tunes incompatible with a BOV?

Thanks

There are alot of people with tunes and bov's. I'm running a greddy rs bov and have had an HKS ssqv before. No problems at all. The bov will not give you any performance gains but just a noise. Or you can go with diverter valves as the other option.

I thought we don't have MAF sesnsors, but TMAP sensor instead?

You are correct sir, so that statement above is wrong. OP get a BOV if you want it will not hurt anythng.

Alright, thats what I was hoping to hear. I did read the Q&A I posted above straight off of the Vishnu website, but it seems that the information may have been incorrect if the 335 has TMAP sensors instead of MAF.

Either way, thanks for the info!

I'm running a cp-e BOV kit with a tial and am doing just fine... As others have said our cars have a Map sensor, not a MAF sensor...

Yeah, figured as much.

I was still curious about something else though... In a lot of the BOV videos on youtube (such as
(AA) and
(Tial) ), there seems to be a high pitch squeak when the valve opens at the higher boost levels. Is this just the camera not being able to handle the noise, or is there actually a squeak instead of a whoosh?

cant speak for the Tial, but the AA has a pretty mean Whoosh sound.

I have the Tial BOV and it definitely is a woosh. If anything the HKS SSQV is the high pitch squeak. I have owned both.
