Redline 15W50

I live in Saudi Arabia and the temperatures here go up to 120F on a regular august day, so I decided to try redline 15W50 and water wetter. The car is running much smoother and less noisy when idle, I feel ok leavin' it running with the A/C on and going into the store at noon for 5-10 minutes without coming back to find all the fans SCREAMING...

I'm a bit worried about the pistons when the oil is still cold, is the oil too light for the engine/oil pumps? I'm not sure if I should use the same oil during winter, also there seems to be more black resin on the exhaust tips, it's been around 3K kilometers and the oil level is still at the max...

Not quite that warm here but, I use the Royal Purple 0/40W and the car also runs smoother & cooler. Have been for more than a year now with absolutely NO problems to date.

No worries.

Toad? Is this your bimmer? Nice 19"s, I got the same except my bimmer is white

My little bro scraped the left/front a month ago, and last night I touched the curb with the rear/right and I haven't been able to sleep, spent last night reading about fixing curb rashes

Yeah!
Curb rash is NOT your friend but, atleast these wheels are cheap enough to replace should you need to.

The 15W-50 is in no way to lite for where you are. If anything, it would be to heavy, but again, you are in the desert so no worries there either.

There are graphs that let you see the actual viscosity for a given rating at a given temperature. I am too lazy to google them up myself, but I imagine that 15W50 on a "cold" start at 40 degrees C is a lot thinner than 5W30 during cold, winter starts in the northern parts of North America and Europe.

But you might consider the 10W60 that they run in some of the M cars. It is approved by BMW (though just for the M cars), and might be ideal for your situation.

Which water wetter did you use? I'm considering it for the next Arizona summer. Are there any compatibility issue with BMWs coolant?

I switched to Mobil 1 0W40 and found the engine vibration at idle when it's 110F and above to be much less.
