CT, doesn't BMW warranty new parts for 2 years unlimited miles? If so, this should be under BMW warranty right given that the EGR was replaced under the recent recall.

If there was an EGR valve recall, it didn't happen when I owned the car. I purchased the car CPO with 46k miles on it. I never asked them if the EGR valve was ever replaced. But if what you wrote is true, I will confront them the next time I am there and have them check if the EGR valve was ever replaced under the recall. Thanks |

I am so used to the SES light coming on so often, that going to the dealership for service has become a routine event. Which I really hate because I bought this car to have fun and I thought that it will last me a while. If any other major problems come up, I will have to sell it and get an Acura. |

checked the codes today and now i have another - 4592 and 4593 -- both injector issues... at least you have had knowledgeable service though in bridgeport -- i havent tested north haven that much but last time i went with a SES light i got i back and not 6 hours later it was back on again... and they insisted on driving my car for a "test" for over 100 miles because it was emissions related... im just really hoping bmw usa has some solution/answer to compensate everyone who has been having major issues that we have been seeing here on the forums. who knows how many issues are from people that are not online here... |

I wish it was that easy. I asked for a new DDE and the dealership said NO. I told them that the DDE is the cause of many problems, but they still said no.

Well, I had my car for 2 weeks and the SES light came on again. Same fault as before, P0401.
I just had the EGR valve replaced 2 weeks ago. I wonder what is wrong this time. Having to go to the dealer every 2 weeks for a SES light SUCKS. |

That's what I said. I had about 8 SES lights in 1 year. First the interval between SES lights were a couple of months, then 1 month and the latest was 2 weeks. Pretty soon the SES light will turn on every week.
I have to check if CPO cars can be claimed under the lemon law. I started a BMW service spreadsheet to keep track of everything I had done to the car since I purchased it last year. Because now I have to pay the $50 deductible every time I bring the car in for service due to the SES light. This really sucks. Making me want to get rid of the car ASAP. But it would be hard to replace it. But the time wasted bringing the car in for service is ridiculous. |

man you should hear what happened to my girlfriends coworker she had a 2011 X3 and had tranny problems(which BTW there are a few SIB's on it) and they did not want to garner the warranty and when she went in for a trade in for an X5 they told her that her X3 had no trade in value and that she had to pay $15k for repairs her X3 had devalued because of the new platform which is BS!! of course the BIMBO didnt know what to do and went to Lexus and now shes driving a lexus. i wrote a an email to one of the head honchos here in Puerto Rico and to say the least I told them I was embarassed to own a BMW!!! Needless to say dont even mention BMW to her she'll go apeshit about it!!!

insufficient EGR flow seems like an excellent problem to have. After having the EGR valve apart on mine I can tell you it is possible for the EGR pipe to get caked up with soot and give you a low flow condition, though mine was only slightly covered in soot in about 40k miles since the EGR recall was done. Not sure what else would cause it though aside from a sticking EGR valve or the valve at the entry to the cooler sticking.

Took the 335d to the dealership, the problem ended up being the AIR MASS SENSOR (P/N: 13-62-8-509-725) which was replaced last year in October under warranty. They didn't have one in stock, so they ordered one from Germany (3 week wait time). They said that since it was already replaced before, they will waive the $50 CPO co-pay fee.

Has anyone had BMW cover these problems after the warranty expired if they were present before?
My 335d has been in for engine problems 6 times in the past year and they've still not been able to solve it. Warranty expires in mid-February and I'm not sure what to do! |
