Does it make sense for a DCI to help lower oil temps?
None. There is a thermostat that won't open to allow the oil to reach the oil cooler unless you reach around 240-250 degrees. The only difference could occur if you were over the limit where the thermostat opens.

Absolutely not. I have a poster of a BMW 507 in my garage. It just means you appreciate the brand and what it offers. Posers put //M badges on their non-//M cars.

How easy of an install is this? Do you have to relocate anything? Are the instructions easy to follow? I have installed a CAI on my GTI and it was a snap, but I didn't have to move anything to do it.

I have a copy of the installation guide. Bavarian X will email you a PDF of it if you want to see a copy of the steps. It is far more involved than the install steps for say the aFe intake. The Injen one is about 80 steps, but it looks very doable for someone with average (not beginner) mechanical skills.

Wow. 80 steps. How long did the install take. I'm leaning towards getting this, but i'm worried about the 80 steps it's going to take to remove it for maintenance/warrenty type issues.

So when you order it, you tell them a specific color that you want it to be painted for, or they offer red and polished only??

The 80 steps are a thorough 80 steps which is a good thing. I mean don't you hate it when you get 6 pictures when you need 50! So, it's really not a bad thing and the install really doesn't look that difficult; however, it is complex enough that I wouldn't be swapping it out every time I have to head to the dealership. Is that really necessary??? Seems crazy to me.

I haven't done the install btw so I can't speak exactly to how long it takes.

Intake tubing comes in black, polished or red
Filters come in red or blue.

The Bavarian X guys took 20 minutes to install this, though I suspect it would take someone doing it for the first time much longer.

That's a nice looking intake IMHO, the other intakes (besides the AFE) seem to look so out of place in the 335i engine bay

X...
