Gee sorry to bother you. You brought it up, I just never heard that before. Anyone got pics of OEM exhausts for comparisons?

Lots of pics of the e90 exhaust with the resonator on the forum. My e93 has only a x-pipe piece instead. If you don't find a picture, I'll make one as soon as possible.

It does have a resonator; it's just not the same resonator as the e90 resonator.

Are you sure that it crosses?

If the e92 really crosses then no.
The resonator on the e90 is hardly restrictive at all. it is a straight through design.

I did the Butterfly Valve mod on my E90 330i and my bro's E92 335i I don't think the sound is as noticable on the 335i, it is only louder when you start the engine.

Here's a picture of the e92 stock exhaust system.
the question is--is the thing in the circle a resonator, an x pipe, or a resonated x pipe?

Thanks for the pic ! If you look close to it, it looks like a x-pipe.

Well, after 20 seconds of warming up, you won't hear much of a difference at all at idle or near (or at) WOT. The biggest difference is about 30-40% throttle, especially around 2600-2900 rpm.

I know it does look like it but I'm wondering if it really does cross or is there just padding in between while the 2 pipes just cross by.
I heard that the e90 resonator was a resonated x pipe but when I had my custom exhaust work done I found out it was straight through.
See pics.

It will be hard to proof what this thing really is. Back to topic: The exhausts are different. So this could be a reason for the e90 owners that they hear droning after the mod. I hear a pretty good sound and no droning at all.

E90 owner hear & I unpluged the solenoid. I don't get any droning and the sound is hardly any different from stock.

Like people said above most of the little bit of extra sound is only heard ~2500-3400 rpms with 30-40% throttle.

SUBSCRIBED! i think I am going to try the "unplu the cable method as it is the easiest (you unplug a cable....duh)

Anybody done a "unplug cable" vs. golf tee/bb to see if physical workaround sounds different from electronic workaround?

I looked for something At home that would fit in the hose but I couldn't find any. Where can I buy ball bearing??? Home depot? Auto store?

Just to make sure. All I need to do is put the ball in the hose and put the hose back on right? Any step I'm missing? Help me out please.
