must change rotors with break pads?
I need new rear break pads and I was told I need to replace the rotors as well...is this true? Or can I get by with just replacing the pads and new break sensor? Also, where can I buy the break sensor needed? Sorry never have messed with the breaks on this car before.

The rotors depends on the thickness of them, i forget the minimum recommended thickness.
www.getbmwparts.com is a great site for oem parts

BMW recommends generally a rotor change but not always necessary. Minimum thickness is indicated on the rotor hat. Here is a link for reference:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=546064 If not replacing the rotor, a light cut on a lath to remove any lip can help. You can also add a small chamfer to the friction material at top and bottom of the pad to clear the lip until fully bedded if rotor surface is otherwise in good condition. Best solution is to get new pads and smooth/flat rotor surface |
