3 years later.... any big advancements/updates on this?

I've got a 335i, no comfort access... that I want a Viper 5904 w/remote start installed...

I'm going through a 'viper preferred retailer/installer' but even they dont seem to know for sure how the system will install and are going to be calling me back shortly after a call to directed and with their primary installer.

Car is still under warranty, so i dont wanna mess with it too much but I REALLY want an alarm. It was built after 03/09 so its not pre-wired or else I'd just go the factory alarm route... labor on retrofit is too much to make sense not to at least consider aftermarket, which is what I'm currently researching.

I like the 5904, had it on my accord, it was solid and reliable. Its working with the BMW's interface thats scaring me after reading this thread....

Starbai, any luck with that system? I've ordered the same model and have been searching around online to see who else has had luck with this model and the DLPK and KIBMW modules.

I have a Clifford 590.2x with KIBMW, DLPK, and 556UW (immobilizer module) since 2009 with smart start and I don't have any problems. Hell, I even use aux channels to put my top up and down on my e93.

Actually, look at the iDatalink ADS-BM1, with that, there is no key lost.

so what is the difference between the KIBMW and the immobilizer module? It looks like they are relatively the same.

I have the Viper 5904, dlpk, and Kibmw. It all works perfectly. I installed it myself about 2 years ago.

KIBMW is the push to start module that simulates pushing the button during start. the 556UW (with the key inside of it) sends the key signal to the key fob barrel.

I see the iDatalink posts...but I don't see a way I can easily obtain it. whereas I don't mind giving up my spare key as it is just sitting idle in my safe.

plus I already know the xpresskit is made by DEI and for DEI alarms. to me, that seems more logical. plus i have heard horror stories about remote start systems that didnt have the key integrated.

You want pictures of my alarm? I guess I can put one up of the remote but I don't see how it would help.

It is actually really easy to install. Take a look at the link I posted earlier. The only wires that connect to the car are power, ground, can, and brake wires. Pretty much everything else connects with d2d.

To make things easier I suggest unpinning all the unneeded wires. It makes it easier to fit everything behind the dash.

no no i meant you posted that pdf and it has pictures.

how long did it take you to install the alarm and the 2 kits? and from what I read it seems like it gives you an aftermarket comfort access abilities...is that correct? autolock/unlock by either walking towards the car or away from it? not having to use the key fob once in the car?

You still have to unlock and lock the car with the alarm remote. You can drive without the key when remote started but you'll get a "no key" error on the dash while driving. Problem is that if you remote start and unlock the car before you get to it, anyone can hop right in and drive off with your car.

It didn't take long. I got it all installed in a day. The hardest part is funding room for everything behind the dash. You do have to unlock the car still like Mathematics said.

There is some simple programing you have to do on the alarm and the dlpk. Both are covered in the manual that comes with them.

would you mind taking pictures of the location of the brain? I take it the bmw brain is already installed because all I see in the oem alarm package is the siren, hood switch and ultrasonic module. is this a matter of simply disconnecting the original brain and putting the viper in?

also, what wire is hot as far as the original connection goes for the siren. using the viper siren which of course doesnt have the bmw connection.

I have decided to go with fortin's modules as I have found out the int-bmw2 allows for keyless go. so I am waiting for evo-all and into-bmw2 to come in by the end of this week or latest next monday.
