ED concerns
Hello guys,
Forgive my first post, but I really haven't seen this particular query listed before. I am very close to pulling the trigger on a 335i coupe premium/sport. I am highly interested in the ED program obviously for the discount, however, I do have a few concerns that I hope a few of you could answer. 1. Since the car is paid for 1 month before your pickup date, do you have the right to insist on another car during pickup, if there is any issue with the car (nav broken) dent, any semi-serious issue? 2. Assuming the fuel pump issues still exist, and your new car breaks down on you in europe, Will you be compensated for all associated costs, and lost time on your "vacation"? James |

1. The car is insured so if something's broken when you get back, they'll fix it.
2. I don't know but I wouldn't let that stop me. We did an ED this spring and it was a great experience. We are planning another one for 2009 for my wife's car. FYI, I bought my car from Adrian at BMW of South Atlanta. He knows the process and will give you a fair deal. There's a european delivery forum on bimmerfest.com that has lots of great info. |

Everything's covered, but if you have any concerns/hesistations then you shouldn't do it and just take simple US delivery.

Each ED car has an identical back-up car in storage in case of a difficult customer. Both cars have the same VIN. And if your fuel pump goes out, you get your entire trip reimbursed plus $500K damages.

ED will really blow your mind, it was an amazing experience. I have read only a few stories of something being incorrect or wrong on the car, and they've always given the people another car to use on their trip without any billing. But, to my knowledge I've only read of that happening twice. If you happen to break down or have a problem over there, they give you an 800 number (basically) to call for service while in Europe, they explain that to you when first going over the paperwork, before you get your car. Remember that in most cases you will pay for your car 2 to 3 months before you actually get to drive it here in the states. It'll be 3 months to the day for me.

LOL that was some sarcasm, hl0m4n.
There was a report on bimmerfest about an issue with a car on delivery day (misscheduled or something) and the Welt gave him a BMW loaner for his vacation. At the end of the trip, he got back to Munich, picked up his car and brought it right to Harms.

Shoot, I'd have no problem driving a loaner while saving 800-1000 miles on my car. It'll be broken in too.

ED is an amazing experience. I picked my car up Nov 27th. My friend and I stayed in Munich for 3 days then went to Prague for 4 days and then came back to munich and dropped the car off. Prague was awsome. I am waiting for my car to be delivered anyday now. It arrived in NJ on Dec 24th and was released to VPC yesterday. My dealer says I should have it by next thursday at the latest. So technically its 6 1/2 weeks from the time I picked it up in munich.

I'd second that! ED is a FANTASTIC experience! Nothing like driving your car around Europe AND saving money! We had a GREAT time!
I wouldn't think twice about it. They are actually VERY good over there especially if you drop your car back off in Munich. I've heard nothing but positives from those that did. I dropped mine in France and it was still a great experience. Just don't drop off in Italy as they have to drive it back to Munich rather than truck it directly to the shiping yard. I also firmly believe the fuel pump issue is blown WAY out of proportion! You read a lot about it hear because those that have it are vocal and should be. But you don't read from the vast majority that they haven't had a problem because they don't even read those threads. Good luck and have LOTS of fun! |

LOL I wasn't being serious. I'm just bored with all the worries that people imagine/dream up in their posts.
