Removing the lower mesh grill on e92?

Hello,

Does anyone have an easy way to remove the lower mesh grill on an e92? My car is all black and it looks out of place.

Thanks,
Dimitri

I removed the whole front bumper then replaced it with the black grilles. Pretty easy. There is a front bumper DIY.

The mesh snaps into place - just go around the edge and push it towards the radiator and it will pop off.

that is a crock of shit!!! Those things do not pop out like the OP stated, so anyone looking to do this, don't even try it! I had a loaner car to experiment with and for the life of me there was no popping out of that lower grill!!! Trust me...The only way is taking off bumper or covering the car up and spraying it black

Yes I've done it, but maybe we're not talking about the same thing. I took off the diamond shaped mesh in the lower part of the bumper to increase airflow to the IC. It was relatively easy for me - no idea why anyone would think this is BS. It's only held in place by a dozen tabs around the edge. The only hard thing was putting it back after I changed my mind.

I've removed mine by 'just' pushing it out towards the radiator. Not easy at all but imho beats removing the whole bumper. I did this to tie a much more fine mesh behind it in order to protect the intercooler from ((stones) damage. I've had 4 diesels from new, it is amazing how much the radiator gets damaged by debris from the road. I'd like to see a solution where these could be removed with just some screws/bolts

look int he DIY section here, you'll have to remove the bumper to do the outer grilles. the center can be done with the bumper in place

i'd recommend taking the bumper off. but also there are ALOT of screws. The fog lights are just clips and plugs that you unplug once you get the screws off. as for putting back on the bumper, watch out for chipping your fender or bumper, the paint on the bumper is so fragile that your nail could chisel it.

I took the advice for the popping of the middle lower mesh grill and pushed the tabs towards the rediator and it popped right off. Painted it and put it back. For the sides I just taped off the edges and covered the car and painted it while it was on there. Looks pretty good and took about 30 mins > good luck
