135i ///M

I spotted a convertible 135i yesterday on Inness sporting an ///M badge. It was beige with a black top.

Where do people even buy these badges?

I also spotted an E92 M3 coupe, sane colour as my sedan. Second time now, so I'm thinking they don't live too far from me. But I've been on foot each time so waving would be creepy.

No, it would not be creepy, just give a ... I am sure the driver of the other M3 would be appreciative of the gesture.

At least its not as bad as it is in Toronto. I see people with an ///M badge on their non ///M at least once a day when I'm in Toronto.

I saw a 7 series with an ///M badge in Little Italy not too long ago...

BDM Bimmer did most of those things on my buddy Chris' 328i.

His name is Rob, and you can find him on this forum.

hey Ottawa. I'm making an order from Tischer for some alcantara bits. Let me know by Friday if anyone wants to split shipping.

If you've been wanting to order that part from Tischer but have been put off by shipping ($35), now's your chance.

Tischer's at getbmwparts.com

Hi Phas,
what's the configuration of the E92 M3? Just out of curiosity?

I want to find some of those 18" rims in gunmetal for my winters. I didn't realize they were still available in Gunmetal as BMW (USA at least) switched to silver for the MY2011.

They ARE available (18" not verified). I would speak to your SA to check for availability and size. Just a suggestion (if I may) make sure to get the best winter tires that you can afford.
Cheers

Hey What's up my Parliamentary peeps!

As you may or may not know, Bimmerfest East is going down August 6th in Maryland. I'm sure you've always heard about the show on the west coast, and the pictures don't do it justice.

Well this year, there will be the first annual Bimmerfest East! There are already well over 1000 BMW's registered for this show. To be honest, it's more of a BMW enthusiast gathering/meet than a show. There will be almost every model BMW produced there, and I know a few of you really like your cars, so this would be a great experience for you guys to join in on an awesome drive down with fellow Canadian enthusiasts and go shoot the shit with other BMW enthusiasts.

We'll be departing on the morning of Thursday August 4th and returning Sunday August 7th.

Montreal/Ottawa guys will meet up with Toronto guys just south of Syracuse, we'll hook up there and roll into Maryland together.

Link to the show: Bimmerfest East 2011

Link to the Drive down: Official Bimmerfest East Cruise from Canada

Take a look and it would be great to get a solid representation of Canadian BMW enthusiasts!

I am thinking about installing Injen Cold Air Intake (http://www.carid.com/2011-bmw-3-seri...ke-198212.html). Does anyone have any experience with this company/intake system? Any advice or suggestions? Thanks.

What is the 'best' winter tires for you? I will need to buy some soon and I welcome recommendations.

I'm interested in the 219/260M's only.
I won't buy from the dealer though. I'll go used. OEM pricing is off the charts on wheel packages.

May I suggest OEM CONCEPT, see his posting in #321, for rims. They are located in Montreal, so you could give him a quick call to discuss your needs and requirements.
I have dealt with them before, and they have great customer service.
When it comes to tires, I suggest that you decide whether they are going to be run flat winters, or regular winter tires. That is a personal preference.
Cheers

Thanks phas,
I'm not interested in non OEM wheels, and a set can be had for about $1500 pre-owned.

I'll never run run flats, and the M rims don't have the same bead ramps as the other OEM wheels as they don't come with run flats.

"Best" is the operative word. What I consider "best/great" would be a "POS" for another person, so I tend to provide any advice with some caution.
As a starting point, I would suggest that you decide whether you are going to use a set of run flats or a set of regular winter tires, as it is a personal preference.
At that point, I could provide some specifics, which I know you will use to do the proper research and arrive at the set that is right for you.
Cheers

I am, sort of, undecided about whether to go with run flats or not. I'd say the chances are 50:50. In the past, on all my cars, I used Toyo winter tires and was very happy with. What I am looking here is the following; most of my winter driving will be in dry condition and on highway. For extreme winter condition I will drive my SUV so, I am looking for tires that have relatively firm side walls. Also, I would downsize the wheels from 18" to 17". Having all this in perspective, I would expect to end up with 205/45/17 all around either run flats or not.

For those conditions I LOVED my Blizzak LM22's.
I'm not sure how the LM25's that came later compared. But I drove three winters on a set of LM22's and they were fantastic for the type of (mostly dry) conditions you mentioned. They aren't as capable in deeper snow however. I switched to REVO 1's after that, and damn are they ever soft rubber. Better in the snow but I felt like I was steering a boat not a car the sidewalls were so soft and the tread so deep and pliable.

How many miles did you get from Blizzaks? They were known for low thread life, is that true?
