It's the M3 I think if any. It looks absolutely stunning in the flesh.

If I went for the Merc I would get a far better deal but I'd have to get a silver or black coupe I think.

It does not look like Monte Carlo to me!!

Monte Carlo looks more like the old Estoril Blue which also does not suit the E92.

That blue is something special. You have to try properly hard to get an M3 to £68k, I hope it can be purchased for a chunky discount/low rate finance.

My vote would be for the m3
Aside from the colour I think you would get a pretty good deal on it.

Plus if you get them to throw in a set of silver wheels aswell would be an awesome car to use for on road and track
The others would probably not fair aswell.

[QUOTE=Kerr;11050705]We have high taxes for lots of things, but that's what they cost. Either buy one or don't buy one.

However I'm sure our average salary in the same in £ as it is in $ in the USA effectively meaning they cost about the same in relation to our earnings.

Where do you get that piece of information?

My company surveys like for like salaries around the World and I assure you that US salaries are higher than the UK, with lower taxes and lower prices. This translates into a far higher disposable income for US citizens in lkike for like jobs.

Federal and State income tax is on average way lower in the US. [Property taxes are often higher, depending on the State]. Car and gas prices are way lower.

The UK is one of the only countries in the World where certain tax rates are >100%...take for example the tax on company car fuel, which is typically higher than the value of the fuel unless you drive >18,000 private miles p.a . Thank George Brown for that one (amongst many).

In Australia that M3 is about A$160,000 drive away. AUD1 is about the same as USD1. So the Australian price is really jacked up into oblivion and one reason why ther are so many old crappers on Australian roads. It's not that bad in the UK. Cars in the United States are just exceptionally cheap by world standards.

I think you need a refresher on economics b/c you cannot compare price points between pounds and dollars like that..its waay more complex and involves each societies standards of living

They both look bloody awful. Then again I would go for a boring colour that was a little more classy and not as loud so I am not the best person to comment.

Marcus, like everyone else has said, the Merc looks shite. Will said it best "cheap & tacky". I'm undecided on the blue M3 if I'm honest but, like you imply, probably looks better in the flesh.

I'd go M3 from the two options you've given. What about the Merc Coupe - surely a similar price and the obvious comparison to the M3???

Or, wont similar money get you behind the wheel of a lovely R8 (maybe not new)???

Yes agreed with above. For that kind of money you could delve into second hand supercar territory.

Having driven both...quite hard... I would say life would be allot easier with an M3.

C63 -
for: Outrageous pace, brilliant seats, magical soundtrack, great auto gearbox, very good compromising ride quality.

against: Fuel consumption is horrendous, interior quality isn't brilliant, avoid the bling chrome - looks very tatty.

M3

For: Revs like mo-fo and makes it feel a little more rewarding than the C63 - much better interior, front cabin space, chunky steering wheel

against: It's lack of torque compared with the C63 doesn't make it as relaxing on the motorway. Can't think of anything else !

Roger you are bang on the money! I have also asked for a quote in the same spec C63 AMG but a coupe in silver..........and the R8, well we could but would mean using the R230 as our family daily.

Waiting for further figures.

I work for a large American company and we get the same in pounds as they do dollars.

I also Googled it and a few websites including a .gov site threw up the average of $26,000 average salary for the USA.

Looking at Ford's website it shows Fiestas starting at $13,500 and a Focus from $16,500.

Anytime I've been in the states most things are the same in dollars plus local taxes as we pay in pounds. You do get so exceptions.

Each country has a different way of working so you are never comparing directly like for like.

However this is a thread for a car, not politics.
