maintenance question

I bought my vehicle CPO certified which comes with free maintenance. If i want to get an oil change at 7.5k or 10k will they do it? Or does it have to be when the car computer says? Right now my car says I have 13k miles before an oil change and I would like to do it sooner, do I have to pay for it if it's sooner?

You have to pay for it ... However, you also get one free change a year, regardless of what the computer says ... so, perhaps if the dealer hasn't done in within a year, they will do it for free.

If you drive about 15k per year, you will always get one per year. Where it gets tricky is for us low mileage people. They came out with a rule that under 6k in a year, you don't need it, but apparently it didn't last and they got rid of that policy? Then, they do not reset the computer. So I got an oil change back in Aug., and yet another one 2 mos later and only 1,800 mi., which seems like a waste of natural resources if you ask me. I would have gladly taken a "get one oil change free" voucher and used it after 7,500.

Is that exactly a year from when you bought it or when the computer think it's time for your yearly change?

my guess is once every 365 days as long as you are over 6000 miles for the year or when the computer tells them it is needed.
i do my own in October (costs less than $50) and they do the free one in March or April. I am due soon for a free one. Wonder if I can get them to swap my summer wheels on for free.

I was at the dealer getting service done a few weeks ago and asked about the oil change. My SA said "Computer says not for another 7k miles, but we can do it in June if you haven't gone that far since the last change by us was done last June."

So, to me, that means the dealer will do it once every 365 days regardless of what the computer says. BUT, I assume when they do the change, the computer resets.

This.

But my dealer does give you 1 per year. It corresponds to date more than mileage I think.

During the 4 year free maintenance period, you get one free oil change per year or at the mileage specified by the CBS system - whichever comes first.

Most dealers charge around $100 for an in between change if you specify an "Interim Oil change", rather than a complete oil service. If you want to DIY, order a kit online from Tischer or another dealer for about $65. Personally, I don't paying the $35 labor as my dealer always includes a better hand wash than I can do.

I generally try not to exceed 8,000 miles between changes, $100 every once in a while seems like cheap insurance.

The mileage indicated does NOT translate into actual miles driven. The computer will adjust this mileage based on your driving habits. I really wish BMW didn't indicate the miles, but just fired off an idiot light for "oil change within 1k miles".
