After todays meet I am thinking about PC my oe 230s gloss black or shappire black.

thoughts? I think it looks alright, and unquie...

the amount of money you would spend on powder coating the wheels (probably going to be around $150 per corner for a good job) would already be half the cost of a set of after-market wheels. I would personally buy a set of after market wheels that's already in gloss black and keep the 230's as spares.
But then again you might be an OEM person like me (I painted my OEM M3 rims in gloss black), if that's the case then I say go for it

Be prepared to spend 1 hour per week cleaning them, as they are difficult to keep clean!

Silver/gunmetal is much better for maintaining, but hey if that's what you like go for it!!!

What colour is your car? I'd be tempted to go a gunmetal colour. Also, you should be able to get them powdercoated for under $100 per corner. Painting is more expensive

SGM R3N sorry I should have expalined a little better, will be a paint on bake. due to my colour think i will stick with black but i really like that gunmetal.

going to get some quotes next week.

yeh so do i, but worry that the 230s will look shiit... but going on the pics a lighter gloss should go ok.

Plasti-dip one of your wheels first as you mentioned Joe at least you would have an idea of how it would look on your car plus it's cheap and easy to remove. If it turns out great then get them powder coated

I had my SSR Professors on my S15 powder coated in satin black and it was just over $700 at Wheeltech for the set.

If you're set on black, consider matte and satin as well

^+1, matte black style 230's will look great on sparkling graphite

My local shop charges $75/wheel. I would suggest you lean away from black though because I've had black and it's a bitch to keep clean BUT this was on my 07' 335i which had those brake pads that accumulated brake dust like no other. I know the 09'+ years have different brake pads though which virtually have no brake dust which is nice.

Gunmetal to me look like they are permanently dirty silver wheels.

I have the gloss and really happy I went with them, but then again, I think they look good on a black car. Joe's car is grey, so may not look as good.

yeh mate spot on, only black will go well with my SGM.

Gloss black gets my vote. I've seen a flat black 230's before and it looks bad on a black car. It will look smaller than it is.

Member driving a sweet 1M had his wheels in satin black.. Looked great hence the cogs started turning for me.

had my mate do this up for me as I am still thinking of painting them satin black..

please give your honest opinions.. Satin black is not as glossy as the pic is.. I am still keen but....
