for 949 thats a dam good deal. too bad im in the doghouse with the lady....

you'd have an extra order.

OP, get this exhaust, or do a 2nd cat delete and buy a magnaflow muffler & tips.

both will run 500 bux and sound much much better/deeper

That's what I thought, so I had them remove the muffler as close to the rear as possible. There's still plenty of original exhaust piping post-resonator. I wanted to cut back as much as possible on aftermarket cheap metals. But it still sounds horrible pre-4k rpm. I still don't think people quite understand what "drone" is though. It isn't a tone or resonate frequency of a tone, it's excess noise caused by these lower frequencies, that resonates through the pipes and causes a physical vibration throughout the car, hence making the noise. There's a big difference between low frequencies and drone. Removing the resonator will allow these sound waves to become more amplified and that's one way to cause drone. As long as the resonator is still installed, drone should not be a problem. The muffler however, will remove low frequency tones that are sometimes mistaken for drone. That's why people think removing the muffler will cause drone, when in fact, the muffler has no major effect on drone, as it doesn't remove frequencies, it just muffles them, as the name suggests.

That's a very good price. I also suggest this to the OP. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that looks like a helmholtz welded on the side. That should take care of any drone issues.

Indeed it is, works excellent. Its sort of a muffler delete and the helmholtz takes care of any drone or unwanted noise. If interested let me know and i could write you up because on our site its priced at $599

I wish the AA exhaust fit E92 xDrive cars

I just want something that changes up the exhaust noise for a sportier tone at a good price, but the other systems are a lot more. Bah.

Why wouldn't it fit? It's just a replacement muffler. All the xDrive bits are in the front.

I myself do have an AA sig exhaust, I love how it looks and sounded but I did drone. For me it doesnt bother me much, only people who do sit in the car with me. However, it was not loud enough for me, so I decided to take out my resonator. I love how it sounds now, the drone didnt change much. The only issue I had with it since it was designed on a 328i and I have a 325i, the piping doesnt match up since it is water blaster in different areas. One sheriff decided to threaten to ticket me sound wise, but thats because she pulled me over for the second time for my blue halos. Now there are many people on the forum that say that they do NOT drone with AA's sig exhaust. If I felt like dumping more money into my setup I would throw a performence muffler on just to kill the drone. But honestly I have read so many good reviews on the BMW Perf exhaust and it sounds great so if you could throw down about $1000 I would go with that.

I'm not 100% sure, but AA's product page for their N52 E9x exhaust has a note that says it won't fit xDrive or wagon models:
http://store.activeautowerke.com/act...-n52-p216.aspx

Interesting. The OEM exhaust is identical between RWD and AWD.

Xi's have a larger diameter pipe for what ever reason. With that said we have installed many of our exhausts on Xi's they just required welding and an extra 30 min of labor.

Maybe I'll stop by an exhaust shop I know of in the area and show them a picture of the exhaust plus what you've said here and see what they say about it.

I like what you guys do and would love to buy this, but I just want to see if it's feasible.

Thanks for the additional details!

OP: this is a great deal. I did a muffler delete a while back. Left it like that for about 2 days then went and put the stock muffler back on.

AA: Might be interested in this as well...

No, it's more like an axle back. The cats are way in the front of the car. This only replaces the muffler section.

As everyone said before, the AA is a great alternative to the PE. It is deep but not too loud and sounds great under throttle. Probably my favorite mod on my car to this day. A complete muffler delete is too loud for our cars, doesn't suit it well.
