E90 Roof Bars

Looking for some roof bars for my e90 for an up-coming camping trip as i cannot afford to swop to an e91 yet lol, can anyone recommend any?

Ideally looking for decent quality without the sky high price tag

I've got Thule wing bars - pretty pleased with them.

You get what you pay for I'd say - the cheap cheaper ones look rubbish and will make a lot more noise. The wing bars aren't silent either though.... And they don look that bad so I tend to leave them on o a while rather than having them on and off a lot.

I use them to carry bikes (Thule 951 carriers also)

thats a good offer

I use cheap Automaxi jobbies that i got from Ebay, these were reviewed by autocar (i think it was cant find it now) once and came second,

i did look at the thule set ups, but as i decided i wouldnt be leaving them on permanently i decided not to bother with the expensive stuff

They do the job, noisey, but id imagine anything on the roof will be however streamlined it is!

Got the roof bar and 4 decent carriers for about £120... about the same price as the thule roof bars on there own, was a no brainer.

Anyone got any experience on the quality of bars / wind noise.

BMW ones are coming in just over £140.
Thule ones coming in just over £160.
Whispbar are just over £170.

Not sure which to go with

I've got Thule Aerobars and a Thule Atlantis 580 box. Looks the biz and as long as I pay attention when fitting it, it's as near silent as you're going to get, even at 70.

Someone just getting rid. Fitted them this weekend and they are great, easy to fit and look good (as good as they can look for roof bars).

I am quite liking the look of the Whispbars at the moment, they seem to have a lower profile on the roof.

however, not sure if that will me some roof boxes (ones with recessed mounting so they sit lower) will fowl on the sharkfin Ariel

I have thule wing bars on my E91 and they are very quiet - not noticeable at normal speeds. The old square ones were, however, very noisy.
FYI.

Went with the Whispbars in the end, £170 delivered.

Here is everything in the box:

Initial thoughts are they are really good quality, feel very well made and look surprisingly good. Can highly recommend http://www.roofbox.co.uk/ super fast next day delivery and great customer service.

And here they are fitted; Dont look too bad at all

Simple to fit and feel really sturdy. At 70mph i cannot hear any extra wind noise; cant comment on effects on mpg yet.
