I also have static when I play iPod tracks only; is that related to all the issues? My car is abou 3 weeks old. Also, sometimes my iDrive locks up when I try to change tracks with my iPod. I can highlight the track but when I push down on the dial to select the track, I can see it being "selected" but it doesn't play. Any ideas??

^^ I think the static with the iPod is from the cable attached to the iPod. If I move the cable around while playing, I too get the static noise, it'll also make the sound fade in and out.

My cable doesn't move at all. Anyone have any ideas about the iDrive lockup?? It happened twice this morning!

Doesn't work for me. When my system fails I have no chimes or any sort of audio indicators. I've tried the seatbelt fix and openeing the door while backing down the driveway.

Anybody have any updates from BMW about a fix action for this? This is a more common issue anymore, and stopping by the dealership to show them it doesn't work at that exact moment isn't always a convenient task.

Last I heard, update is still on track for June/July timeframe, so I would guess probably late June at the earliest.

Chalk up another 09 335i with this problem (L7, 6FL). I haven't been able to get it working with the listed solutions. Looks like I'll be driving in silence until I get to a service center...

Still no sound after 3 days... Only thing that I hear is the turn signal. I've also lost my USB option when I press the audio button... I can only choose between the radio, CD, and Aux, but no sound...

Any possibility that this is a simple fuse problem?

Just providing an update. I took my car to the service center and they diagnosed my problem to be the amp.

Now I have to wait 2 weeks for the part to come from Germany... wish my exhaust were a little louder.

Has anyone ever gotten a diagnosis from the dealers about this problem? Mine does this sporadically also. It usually will start working again the next time I start the car if it sits for a few minutes.

I think i figured out how to "fix" this! It's in quotes because it's not a real perm fix... but I think if your radio doesn't come on due to this glitch, all you have to do is unbuckle your seatbelt to force the seatbelt chime to come on... and then the radio audio will come on too.

I noticed to radio is dependant on the seatbelt chime working... This problem has come up about 3 times in the past year, so I feel like I'm pretty much over it if my "fix" works every time.

post 46, 57 seem to have found the same "fix"

Yep that worked for me. But it did not always work for some of the others that have tried that. That was the feedback from a few posts, could have been on another message board.

Since I took my car in for the HPFP and "software" upgrade, the radio seems to work. This weekend however, the radio did have some trouble turning on and after pushing the engine on/off button a few times, it worked again.

^^ Good news, I'll have to go by and see if they'll do it. I finally made it to the dealership a few weeks ago when it happened, and after they did a bit of research they realized there was no fix action. I guess they were told to leave them alone until BMW got it figured out. They said the car had to go into "sleep mode" to reset itself. Finally, I can listen to music as often as I want, and not as often as the car will allow me.

Called my service advisor, and set up my appointment for next week to get the software fixed. He said he would need the car the whole day as it is a complete software upgrade. Does that sound right? All day?

Either way, the update is out there, so for those with the problem, finally we can get it fixed.

What is the software version? My car was at the dealer nearly 3 days last week and they couldn't find a fix.
