Split Armrest and Pedal Install Shop?

Hello all,

I just got a split armrest and BMW stainless steel pedal set. I tried my best to install them myself based on DIYs here, but I just stink at it. The parts are OEM.

So I have decided to throw in the towel and take it to a shop to get it installed. I initially wanted to take it to my dealer, but I am not sure if they would be willing to install parts not purchased from them.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a shop that would do these supposedly simple installation for me? Would a body shop do it?

Thanks!

Both are stupid easy to install.

But if you must, any shop including the dealership will happily rob you of your money to install those parts.

I spent 5 nonsense hours fighting to put the brake pedal on. It ticked me off completely. Then I moved on to the accelerator pedal- the friggin' plug that connects to the pedal won't come off... I didn't want to apply too much pressure because it the gas pedal after all- I didn't want to break it.

The split armrest, the pins won't come off regardless of lubricant, pliers, and heat gun.

I guess I will call the dealership and see if they are willing to install parts not purchased from them.

I feel you on that pedal installation. Split-folding armrest was pretty easy though. and yeah, pin's on pretty tight for split folding armrest. You'll need to chisel it out or something

I am wwith wwong on this one. The SS pedals were horrible, the metal kept popping off for me on the clutch and brake.

I paid my dealership to install the armrest and they installed it without the spring! I took it home and followed the DIY and it was easy, fixed in 6 minutes. When I got my new car the pins were tight, I had to chisel them out, but they came out. Total time 12 minutes.

Both of these make a big difference in the interior. Good luck

Thanks for the responses guys... at least I know now that I am not a total idiot. Do you think a dealership would install OEM parts not purchased through them?

I'm sure they will, and charge you. For my split armrest, they charged $140 to install it wrong. They ended up doing the "right thing" though after I complained. I think the pedals were around $40.

Good luck

Yes, the pricing sounds about right- that's what I got from Scott at Houston North dealership.

Boy that is expensive. Looks like I might want to try for a few more days and if it doesn't work, then I will have to pay up.

Check out this DIY video if you have not seen it already, it helped me install my arm rest. If I'm able to do it then sure most people can too.
