I am a fan of the aFe setup. I am running their Dual Cone intake on my 135 and think it's one of the most complete intake systems out there. Another option, if you like the carbon look, is the Simota CF Ram Style Intake although I prefer the metal heatshield of the aFe.

Dinan for sure. It's completely cut off from the engine bay so there's no heat coming in like open air elements. You're getting cold air in from the bottom of the bumper area (same design as the E9X M3).
BMW Performance looks sweet. I may get that and integrate my Dinan into it. Best of both worlds - looks and performance.

Read my post more carefully aFe has a system for the 330i, not recommending the DCI for his car. I am recommending the aFe system based on my experience with their DCI N54 setup. Appreciate you clarifying that though as my post was confusing.

^ i think the afe is very good, the pull is much better than stock, i have a K&N filter in my stock airbox and there is a HUGE difference. very happy. i think the price for the dinan and bmw performance are WAY to expensive, but for OEM quality they are the best. but i honestly think and AFE with some home depot 2 1/2 tubing going from the lower mesh grill to the intake would be the BEST way to go because it comes with a full heat shield unlike the injen

Really?!? A HUGE difference b/w AFE & stock/k&N? At all speeds??? I understand most of the ram intakes will gain you hp in the higher rpm ranges, but most lose torque down low where most city driving is done. Just curious since the afe has a heat sheild, whether it'll be any better at all than what I have now (stock/k&n/charcoal cut-out + scoops).....thanks

I like aFe over K&N for the drop ins. You won't realize huge gains with just a drop in but aFe has better build quality as compared with K&N. Check out this thread for a tour of their manufacturing facility and info on what goes into each intake and filter system:

ya at all ranges there is a bif difference with the afe cold air system, i had it for 3 months took it off, whent to stock (because i was lazy after i took it to the dealer for about 6 months and i put it back on and i love it even more.

the drop in had a little effect as far as i can remember, since i did that mod back in 2006 when i bought the car.

I've been researching intakes for my 330i for a while and cant make up my mind! lol I use my car for business and am wondering if the AFE or any intake for that matter would be too loud...basically how much louder is it than stock?

The nice thing about an intake, at least the aFe setup, is that it sounds just like stock when driving normally. The intake really comes alive when you are under WOT.

currently (after many many changes) I am running the stock box, with a K&N drop in - carbon filter deleted, then I have a secondary air coming from the front bumper tot he bottom of the stock box (like the dinan - without the 500$ price tag) and it works by far the best, low RPM, and High RPM it pulls and pulls.

(got the lower intake tube from Spectre performance)

IMO this is the best intake as far as results and cost effectiveness.
