Premium package was useless to me so I didn't order it. I ordered my car with navi so I don't need the compass, I have a palm treo 755 and its not compatible with bmw's bluetooth so that was useless. I don't need lumbar support i'm a young man. And I have my own garage opener, but I did get dakota leather. I just didn't see any other option in the pp other than the dakota leather for me to pay the extra grand. To each their own.

Update: I ended up getting PP and I love it. The bluetooth alone makes it worth it. My phone is a Treo and its not on the list of phones that work with bmw. But it paired up with no problem.

BMW makes wonderful cars to drive! Their idrive system... Leather seats... I don't need them and was very impressed with the 'ette. Take it bare bones with the Sport Package, save your money, enjoy the drive! A "stripped" 335 with the Sport Package is not a poorly featured automobile by any means.

If your going to get leather anyway I think its worth the extra money to get those features. I love my blue tooth, the power folding mirrors, etc, etc.

interesting this came up:

looking into a used x5. at the local dealer, there are two:

04 x5 w/ 32,000 miles CPO - has CW, PP, Rear Climate
05 x5 w/ 31,000 miles CPO - has CW, Rear Climate (no PP)

They are asking the same price for both. Considering the 05 has leatherette, not having PP with all the options may have something to do with the much lower sales price. Perhaps the dealer has a harder time selling without PP, which may affect your resale value. By this comparison, it looks like PP at least pays for itself when selling.

Get it!

IMO it's well worth it because it includes not only leather but also the garage door opener (homelink). I like the auto-dim mirrors and lumbar support as well. Also, not having premium hurts resale.

I oredered my car w/o the ZPP.

There are a few times I wish I had gotten it. I think my number 1 reason was for Blue Tooth and BMW assist. I also like the folding mirrors, but I am fine living w/o that, lol. The compass is nice, but I don't really care about that or the garage door opener, same for the lumbar support.

For the most part, I am happy I did not get ZPP, and chances are I will not order ZPP on my next BMW.

I am very happy to have the PP. It helps to make it a luxury car vs. "just a raw machine" If you spend $35 grand on a car it should have lumbar, real leather and bluetooth. Power-fold mirrors are a neat trick but not worth the package alone.

It all depends on who's money it is, and how difficult it was to obtain it.

From a standpoint of "worth" it's difficult to justify much more than a Honda Accord EX with a 4-banger and cloth seats. I could have purchased two for the cost of my 328i, and I'm sure they're more reliable and the depreciation curve looks much better.

I like the color of the terra interior better than either of the vinyl options. The mirrors are a hoot, too. It's not "worth" it, but if I'm going to spend that much on a compact station wagon, another 4-5% is no big deal.

I fully agree, and I would add that "evebody has a different taste, different priorities, and different needs".

You're right, for some people getting a BMW is not worth it. I have work colleagues that make a lot more than I do and their car is a mere Point A to Point B transportation. Others are crazy about luxury and have a Lexus. I'm Mr. Gadget and Mr. Sports Cars (in that order), and no way I wouldn't have bought my BMW without all the toys - I love the iDrive, I added the iPod interface, and I absolutely use avery feature available.

Hey, but that's me.

Buy what you need and like, and what you can afford.

Have been going through this same debate. Premium package seems like a lot of little goodies, that all add up in price. I'll definitely get leather and Bluetooth, either stand alone or within the package, so then it's $350 for mirrors, lumbar, Homelink. I'm leaning toward thinking that the $6 a month for PP, which you blow in an extra drink at a bar, a sandwich when you could cook at home, two Starbucks, whatever, wasn't a huge sacrifice, and that at least a couple times a month I'd use those features and be glad. Though I may change my mind...

Less Starbucks, more Dunkin Donuts coffee. Better stuff anyways. But no way in hell anyone is drinking anything in my car!

Have decided to get it. The power mirrors make me smile.

you've pretty much answered your own question.

I opted to get everything fully loaded for my 09 335i coupe, everything EXCEPT the cold weather package and heated seats.

down here in socal, we get too much sunshine to call for the use of cold weather and heated seats.

the way I see it, i am paying to add these packages because they will help me on resale and find a buyer later on.

Yeah it includes the leather interior, but the invoice price to add leather is $1,320. With that said and done let us do an analysis...

1) Ok it comes with a digital compass on the rear view mirror. First of all, it does not help a damn bit if you are already lost. Unless!! You get Navi... Then you would eliminate the need for this "compass".

Useless, and I have one in my radar detector

2) The second feature is it comes with BMW assist with bluetooth system. In regards to the BMW assist I have it on my e60 and have not used it for S#!T. In regards to the bluetooth system it is useless if you do not have a compatible phone.

Bluetooth is nice...although a headset or Nuvi with bluetooth works fine. Assist is something you should hope to never use

3) The third feature is lumbar support... I have the option in my car also and I think it might be me, but it makes my back uncomfortable...

I use it but could live without it

4) The fourth feature... Auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors... Simple solution tint your windows... Or for those of you that have a it could you live without it? lol

Very useful but I would not mind suffering without them

5) Last but not least universal garage door opener... Its cool that the buttons are there but it is the same as reaching for the damn garage door opener...

Exactly but it is nice to have it integrated

With that said and done please, let me know. Thanks
So pretty much they are a bunch of added random luxuries + leather that make the car ownership experience more fun, but can be lived without. I have gotten pretty needy of the bluetooth and that would probably be the one thing I would add for $750 as its seamless integration is great. If I wanted a leather color on top of this it would run me 2100 vs 2650 for the premium package. $550 does not seem worth it for lumbar support (worth about $50 to me), garage opener (worth about $50 to me), dimming mirrors (worth around $100 to me), and a compass (worth $25 to me).

I feel that many of the features should come standard in a $30000+ car as is the case with my sister's Lexus IS.
