Bored with my ride....

I've got a 2010 335d with sport, premium, cold, Logic7. No iDrive. It's the best car I've ever driven but.... I'm bored with it.

What would you do to make it more interesting? JBD? Upgrade the speakers? New headunit?

I would say get a ECU Tune or a JBD which ever of those 2 options you prefer.

Maybe some new shoes too.

This is why God created modding.

JBD

New wheels/tires

Springs/coilovers

tint

= new car without the expense!

Swap out your interior to spruce things up... I reluctantly ordered black dakota and I want the oyster now that I have CF.

I just replaced my tires so new wheels might need to wait. That's an idea that I hadn't thought of though.

Thinking about the JBD. Seems easy enough to do. I need to read up a bit to see how it might affect my warranty/maintence plan before I take the plunge.

The thing about mods is that I'm a 36 year old dad of 2 so I can't do some of the crazy stuff you kids are doing.

My understanding of this is how the 335d fits into the car universe. It is a compact European sedan that serves as both the Swiss Army Knife of cars (you do have the fold down rear seats, no?) AND a Q-ship hot rod with the monster torque that is usable in every day driving.

The only more "hot" thing to do for better excitement other than mods to amplify these characteristics would be to add a sports car to your garage or change it to an M3 or Porsche 911. All these things are at least a $10K proposition, so perhaps you could consider upping the power with JBD, or go the other direction and put on a trailer hitch to make the car even more versatile if you get my drift.

My $.02 Hope this helps.

I am slightly older than you with 3 kids. Modifying your car does not mean you have to go the "Fast and Furious" route. There are tasteful mods that maintan a stock-like appearance, but that entirely transform the car.

The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys.

Wheel

I'm a Dad of three. If you've got a little one look up Recaro child seats. This morning I'll be putting an M steering wheel on my black on black sport D. A friend let me drive his 1M and it was the first thing I noticed. est $500 w or without M trim. It feels really great.

Well said and nicely done ride. Love where this thread went as I am at the same point in life. What lip is that in the front?

My plan is front lip or splitters, m3 rear lip, and after warranty is out sport springs for the slight drop. I'm too weenie for the engine tunes, don't want the tickets or the blown turbo.

Thanks brother!

That's right, don't let the wife and kids hold you down!

Don't worry about blown turbos w/JBD or any of the tunes on the market, they only increase fueling (boost in not increased). Keep the JBD at 65% and it's a relative benign modification that wakens the beast within.

Why wait until the warranty to run out before you get springs/shocks? The only thing BMW will not cover if you have a problem are the aftermarket springs/shocks - your all good my man.

Who knew this would be a dad support group thread?

cssnms: can you detail what you've done there? It looks great.

I am thinking of the JBD. I splurged on a laser interceptor during a group buy a few months ago and have a passport 9500. I only really open it up when my kids aren't in the car.

Young kid here,

I get bored easily with cars. I JBD'd mine and I still haven't gotten bored. My dealership doesn't care about having a tune in it. Had my EGR replaced once, and they literally took off the JBD, reprogrammed the ECU, and put it back on.

Why not? I'm 48, married, and we have a child. I find racing around easier with a child (not the wife) After I slide around a corner if the child looks scared, then I know I had good entrance and exit speeds. If he looks like he crapped himself then the entry was too hot. IMHO, they're better than a G meter. Even the wife is useful. If I finish a trip and she didn't bitch, then I know my MPG was optimal.

M steering wheel went on in about an hour. Works and feels fab. Get the tri-stitch and you'll have a mod you look at and touch every second you're in your car.

If I remember correctly, he's running 19" VMRs, gloss black roof, satin black grilles, tint, and that front spoiler may still be for sale if you want to pick it up from the member classifieds. His car looks even better in person, very clean aesthetically-speaking.

You're never too old to tastefully adapt your car to your needs/desires. My daughter loves riding in the back, and her black Recaro pro-sport actually looks pretty good back there...now Daddy just needs the matching sportsters for the front
