Radar Speed Sign / Radar Detector?
Not sure if this belongs here, but it has to do with electronics so here is the question:
I received a speeding ticket going uphill for 46 in a 35. The cop was coming down the hill (he had just rounded a corner in the middle of the hill) when he clocked me in. Farther down the hill (about 25-50 yards) there is a radar speed sign. Would this throw off the reading of his radar gun? when this happened i had my family friends little puppy in the passenger seat and was driving slow the whole time because i didnt want to scare the dog. i had taken my eyes off the road for a second to pet the dog right when it happened and i had the foot on the gas maintaining my speed up the hill and never breaked. there was no way i was doing over 40. I am thinking that the reading he got wasn't correct and was thrown off because it was downhill and coming around a corner, there was a car in front of him, and the radar sign that possibly threw off his radar? the biggest reason which makes me think this is because he said that i was going MUCH faster but said that i "slowed down before he could lock me in." Knowing that i never breaked, and that he had just rounded a corner makes me believe that something was wrong. Can any technical people that understand how a radar works provide some insight? I am trying to figure out if these are grounds to contest my ticket as i don't feel like i was clocked correctly.
