Angel eye HID kits?

Anyone here got any?

I'm thinking about importing Alpines from the states! Just wanted to check if anyone here's already done them already!

Cheers!

I'm considering this aswell. Currently I got the BMS leds but the outter ring really bugs me because it doesn't light up bright enough.

Apparantley HID is the way to go if you want (near to) LCI brightness!

Here's an example of HID vs GP thunders

Here's the review w/ installation and pics:

Alpine are selling them for $179 which equates to £113 (+ £15 for shipping)

Thing is, I've seen companies here selling them for £50 - 35W H8 HID kits 8000k Canbus free.....

Thats why I'm hoping someone here will know what the best option is for us Brits!

The e90 LCI halogen certainly has Angel Eyes but they have a different bulb so these kits don't fit

How much u willing to spend? and are you willing to have your headlights taken apart, coz that way you will get rid of the dull outer ring....
However, it will cost around £480-520 and u also get to spray your housing aswell there is a UK supplier for it

I had the Alpine kit fo my car, I was hoping it wouldn't produce Radio Interference on my car but sadly it did. My car struggles with any Led bulbs etc and radio interference so this doesn't mean it will cause you issues. I've finally got some CREE led bulbs similar to the ones in the recent BMS GB but only with 2 led's and they only interfere abit so are acceptable. Anyway, one of my ballasts on the Alpine kit blew after a few days and after some back and forth I got a refund (minus delivery) I did get abit frustrated with the returns process as I was getting no reply after about a week. I then started getting abit more official with my replies. Alex @ Alpine then started telling me off for pestering him and he had been on holiday!! thought he attitude was abit rich given the fact I'm the customer and he had made no attempt at putting some sort of out of office or something on the forum about said holiday...

I'd so some more research on the alpine kit. Lots of problems with their reputation. Failing components, and horrible customer service.
Any HID kit will be brighter then anything else you can find but it wont be even between the inner and outer rings.

Always a bit twitchy dealing with companies outside of the UK

Is there anyone in the UK that does HID kits ? .. I agree unless anyone produces a 35w Laser LED then HID is the only way to go.

Out of interest ( because i'm a bit behind on this ) How are 2010/11/12 angel eyes powered ?

Currently saving for a few other things, but the alpineMSS hid's are on my to-do list unless LEDs get dramatically brighter in the next 3-4 months!

The key with alpine kits is that it comes with a relay loom so power for the HID ktis is off battery and not the power loom inside the headlights. Spoke to few HID suppliers and they reported issues powering HID kits since when you read voltage on the ring bulbs on LCI E90 they run below 35W. So the Alpine removes this as the power comes via the power tap in the engine bay and the OEM loom is only used as a relay sense on one plug and other just has a load resistor to prevent bulb warning.

Hence most likely will go for it.

You don't want to leave the sidelights on when you're parked then because you'll be burning off 35w in the resistor & another 35w for the HID Angel eye, and thats for each headlight

Hey mate,

I decided to scrap the idea of HID kit for the fact that I cant be arsed getting something which might run the risk of me replacing it and waste my time.

But there are companies out there selling them for a fraction of the price but you'll have to go down the route of coding etc.

Instead I have invested in LEDs. Ive managed to get hold of 4 LED CREE chip Leds, (apparantly very similar to Lux)

I will post pics as soon as I get them.

Thats the point you only have resistors the the loom and power is direct from a fap on the engine bay so you are not powering trhe angels HID kit using the OEM LOOM at all
