0-60

if one day i need to go to a track during the summer, i'd like to know how to do the drag race thingy. i looked around for a "how to 0-60 asap", but didnt find it.

soooo, i'm asking you guys. how does a driver achieve the fastest possible 0-60 in a manual car?

rev the engine to 4k rpms, ??
let clutch go quick, ??
first gear until reach ---- km's or rpm's??
second gear until ---- km's or rpm's??
third gear until ----- km's or rpm's??
etc. . . . ??

is there a step by step way of doing this?

also, if the road is dry and flat, is it best to have the DTC on, off, or disable the whole this by holding the button down for 3 seconds?

merci.

its not that easy. you have to feel the engine. the trick is to modulate in first gear because your tires will be spinning in first and you want to maximize acceleration while your tires are loose.

around 3k rpm, let the clutch go as quickly as possible without spinning your wheels (like others said on this post, you have to "feel" this).

1st gear, shift to 2nd after 5k RPM,
2nd gear, leave it there as you can hit 60miles/h (or 100km/h) without shifting to 3rd... (even going uphill)

This is one of the few occassions that a Step is actually better for the job. Just turn DSC and DTC off, brake torque it and slam the gas!!!

why would you do that after 5k rpm ? you should go all the way to the red line in every gear

I think the torque curve falls after about 5500rpm but I am not an expert...

This is out of my league...

I think the gist is shift at peak power not peak torque...so I think you are right

Don't you just love the way the people in the second forum communicate - logical, unemotional, polite, and thoughtful

Torque is what makes your car move at a given engine speed. HP is how far you can rev the engine while it is still delivering torque......
