CP/TB C-Clip alternative
So I had my CP blow. Looked like this:
View post on imgur.com Of course I looked everywhere for the retaining c-clip which was nowhere to be found, even pulled the undercarriage cover. I had a VRSF CP sitting in my garage waiting. Waited too long apparently. But it utilizes the OEM clip... At first I thought, I'm screwed. Then, being the engineer that I am, I thought why don't I just make one? Went to Walmart and bought a stainless steel hanger like this: View post on imgur.com Being 3/16 diameter stainless steel, I knew it could handle the load. I tore it down into something like this using large cutters: View post on imgur.com 3/16 was slightly too large for the grooves so I had to take a file and file the sides down to where it would just fit very snug in the grooves of the CP. I marked my bends with a sharpie and bent it to shape with a couple good large pliers and a little bit of elbow grease (a vice would have definitely expedited the process). I bent it in the shape of a "U" with the very ends of it bent away from the TB to lock in the clip. Trimmed it some more and the results were fantastic. I cannot pull the clip or the CP off, nothing budges after being set. Maxed out boost on 4 or 5 pulls, everything is exactly as I left it before closing the hood. Here is the final result installed: View post on imgur.com View post on imgur.com View post on imgur.com Seems ghetto, I know. But I also know when something works. This clip, though far from OEM, will hold its own under high pressure. That being said, this is not a permanent solution, but it's as good as it'll get for a temporary fix. I hope this post can help someone else in desperate need of the elusive c-clip. Last edited by AJ9x; 06-15-2015 at 09:28 AM.. Reason: Wording and added instructions |

Just updating. Day 3 / 400 mi of driving around, been pushing it hard when I can running up to 18 psi using E35 mix. There has been 0 change to the clip with no air leaks. Working just as well as the OEM clip.
