Desperate for 2012 328i Sport Wagon Allocation

Hi guys,
I've decided to get one of the last E91s being made, but my dealer here in Massachusetts says he can't get an allocation for a RWD 328i wagon. If he can't is that totally true that they're all taken? I know production ends at the end of next month, but why can't they make just one more for me?

After driving the F30 and driving my E90 back to back, I really want the increased utility of the wagon (soon to be two kids) AND the driving feel and steering feedback of the E90 chassis.

Any ideas or leads out there?

Thanks!

UPDATE:

I found an allocation through Prestige in NJ. Not too far from Boston.

It's so awesome to be able to spec the car just as I wanted, right at the end of production. I'm hoping for a 6wk turn around like it was with my 2004 MINI Cooper. That felt like a long time...

How are you spec'ing your e91?

I would add 1-2 weeks to the MINI turn-around based on my experience.

Utility and design-wise the wagons beat the sedans IMO. However you may want to test-drive a e90 and e91 back to back. I have found my e91 xDrive to have significantly more road-noise and a softer suspension feeling than the two e90 xDrive loaners I was given. That legendary balance between handling and comfort in the e90 feels "heavily" tilted towards comfort in the e91.

Having driven on the standard suspension in my 325i for two and a half years and having driven an E91 xDrive back to back with my car, I went for a RWD E91 with the sports package. With less weight (more aluminum and no drive shafts) at the front and slightly firmer settings from the sport suspension, I'm thinking it will drive basically like my current car given the extra weight from the wagon body and larger panoramic sunroof.

There is a little more noise in a wagon and with a larger sunroof. But that's nothing compared to the increased utility and not having to sacrifice anything in handling.

The final spec is:
328i Sport Wagon (RWD!)
Auto (I know, but too much traffic and a few people who need to help with the kids don't drive stick...)
Premium Package
Sport Package
Value Package
Heated Seats
Roof Rails
Satellite Radio
Rear Window Manual Shades

It's in Tasman Green with Oyster Leather and Aluminum Trim.

I really can't wait!

Congrats!

If you pull the money together for an M Sport kit, you will instantly have one of the coolest cars on the forum.

I see how the sport suspension would compensate the extra weight on the e91. Tasman with oyster sounds like a winning color combo, nice contrast and RARE (can't say as much for my space grey/saddle advertisement-grade combo). You'll appreciate the dark trim inside the car with kids, it won't take a week. I use the heated steering wheel more often than the heated seats on mine and would def. recommend it if it's (still) an option. I would personally take the heated steering over power windows, comfort -wise.

That panoramic sunroof on the e91 is probably my kids' favorite feature on the car :-) Constance, my 4-year old went " daddy this is a great car" after climbing in it for the first time and peeking through the roof. That was well worth all the worries about future issues with that complicated piece of equipment. Funny thing is, that first impression stuck and the E91s somehow got named "the great car" by the kids. They like it way better than the Honda Odyssey.

I like the M-sport exterior, but really don't like the required anthracite headliner. Even with the big moonroof, it's very dark. Part of the reason I went with the oyster leather. The all gray in my current E90 is kind of blah and my wife doesn't like the beige. The oyster with the black accents and aluminum trim with the standard headliner keeps it light enough inside and sporty.

The waiting continues...

My 2.5yo daughter loved the big sunroof on the wagon we drove! It's a really nice feature for the backseat. I don't blame your kids for sticking with "the great car" moniker. It's very accurate! My parents have a Grand Caravan and it's always referred to the as the van... very versatile, but no BMW!

Is it crazy for me to say that, as an 18-year old dude, I dream about driving an E91 M-Sport MT??

Honestly, I love these sport wagons. I'd love to see someone absolutely bat-shit insane shoehorn an S85 V10 in to one of these...you'd have such a sleeper-car.

Not odd at all. I remember seeing the E34 5er Touring when it first hit our shores, and I was pretty young then. I fell in love with the Tourings right then. There's something so cool about them- the no compromises kind of thing.

The V10 would be wild. Personally, I love the conversions of E91 plus E90 M3- there's a sleeper performance car for you!

I think I am going to do the same thing as you HVYWGHT. I am reaching out to dealers now to order an xDrive 328 E91. I would love RWD on the wagon. But the price difference is just $1000 between the xDrive and RWD due to the packaging, etc. That, and RWD would kill re-sale if I ever needed to sell it- not that I plan to.

Did you also do European Delivery? I am having a hard time figuring out the invoice pricing on ED for an E91..

I know, it's too bad it's the most boring color combination know to man.
