please don't shoot me down.........
but your nano thats plugged into the aux in - what is it doing? I have no bluetooth option / no idrive option and no USB port, only aux in and want my ipod touch to play through the stereo and dont know where to start. thinking of a either a parrot MKi9200 hands free kit or a replacement head unit altogether such as the Parrot. cue abuse for being thick!

Can I just clarify with aux in you still have to control music from the iPod and not via drive?

just to clarify, next to the aux in I have the usb port and the black cable you can see is the bmw ipod connector cable. My ipod is controlled through the stereo and the steering wheel.

There is something you can buy that plugs in to the CD changer port at the back of the stereo (it takes away the CD boot changer if you have one), and allows control of itunes playlists through the CD control on the stereo. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but looked it up and it was best part of £400. I am happy enough to keep that money and change tracks myself on iphone or create a playlist before going out. |

Is there anyway to connect the iphone to the stereo once in the adaptor?
It doesn't look like a possibility as the headphone jack on the iphone is covered. I currently use my iphone plugged into the aux (no usb) so can use it for both phone via bluetooth and music. I am guessing if i wanted the cradle to charge/improve reception, I would need the set up thess has of the iphone + ipod. Do the newer BMW's have a more advanced set up when you can just plug you iphone into a cradle and have all you media synced as well as your phone contacts? |

The other 2 I think are for the much newer models, I am not sure from what date of manufacture onwards, one can be used to play your music through the idrive and the other music, video and media. the basic version is available from some bmw dealers in the uk but they all claim that they have only been given 5 each. (ebay.de has loads of them) The music version is available in germany from what I know and costs twice as much. |
