Looks like they finally issued a recall for Canadian vehicles.

It was only a matter of time before Transport Canada did their own recall. The only issue is when will the airbags and related hardware be available to be replaced?

I could be wrong but I think it's up to the manufacturer to issue the recall. In this case BMW Canada. BMW USA is always quicker on the trigger. Transport Canada is toothless compared to the NTSA. Was like that for the HPFP and the Vanos bolts.

Should work the same way as the Vanos Bolts recall. BMW Canada will issue letters to affected owners. Once dealerships have parts they will contact individuals to schedule appointments. I believe I received a letter from the dealership to contact them when they started receiving regular shipments of the parts.

Not each and every vehicle manufactured in said year is affected. I called BMW Canada to see if mine was and based on the VIN it was not part of the batch of E92's so if you want to be proactive then call them with your VIN.

My '11 E90 isn't subject to it either, you can check with BMW by either calling with your VIN or registering your car with them.

My car (2011 328xi touring) is on the list and mybmw.ca shows a recall code of 728016RC. Called BMW Canada to confirm and they mentioned the parts should be available this summer, in the meantime the car is safe to drive.

Just got a letter in the mail from BMW Canada notifying that I'm in the recall. It also said to make any other drivers of the car aware and that no parts are available at this time. Another letter will be sent when its time for replacement.

Just received the recall letter from BMW Canada. Considering how wide the Takata recall is globally, I'm curious how few were not impacted.

Got mine for both the 128 and 335 in the mail yesterday. I just sold both of them lol but my new car is also affected according to that letter, but I haven't officially gotten a letter for it yet.

Edit: just called them and my new car is, in fact affected. Now the waiting game.

I'm seeing that some folks in the USA are getting rental cars until the parts come in, has anybody had any luck with that? A family friend has his Honda Ridgeline parked and a rental F150 given to him by Honda until the parts come in for his vehicle. They're not expecting to fix it until the fall, I'd be kinda PO.
