Thanks man! I had hesitation on what I really wanted, but opted for the exhaust in the end.

EDIT: I nearly got a hernia when I called up BMW for a price quote on the install; $532!! OMG......

My first quote I got for my dealer for the alarm + install nearlly killed me($780) and now this....... There are far better ways I could spend this money.

I need to find a local shop that can do this install, or I will need to borrow a saw-zaw and prep for a DIY.

Here are some questions you should be asking yourself. Can you afford it? If yes, what other reasons are holding you back? You have until this Sat to make up your mind before this price goes away.

Here are the benefits compared to other exhausts out there:

RR: similar product, no idea on logevity
RE IKON: An exhpensive muffler
Eisenmann: Expensive for the mid pipe and muffler
Muffler Delete: Adds a unpleasant sound to the aggressive tone, many turned back
Supersprint: 2-3k for an exhaust

Bring it to a local shop. That's what I did. It will cost you around $150 for a local independent shop install.

A year or so ago before I started modding and doing DIYs, I asked my dealer for a blackline install price quote. They quoted me $260! I decided to do it myself and as we all know it doesn't take longer than 15 mins for that job.

I thought you were willing to spend for a quality exhaust. $1004 is not a lot for this and you'll definitely love it.

Thanks for the info. I plan on installing this myself, either this weekend or next, depending on when this exhaust arrives. Some tools I will be using:

Pipe cutting tool
tape - to insure a perpedicular line to the axis of the pipe
jacks/stands, might get some ramps
Rachet and some sockets
perhaps some rubber safe spray for the hangers

From the pictures and other DIY's I have seen for this exhaust, it does not seem to be overly complicating. The hardest parts I forsee is really properly jacking up the car, ensuring the cuts are even, getting the 3 hanger points off the rubber mounts.

Good luck on the DIY Mike.

Btw, the cut shouldn't be even. One should be longer than the other. See my installation pics. Also, you might find it easier to cut the pipe and do the measurements if you remove the stock pipe from the car and work on it on the ground.

Just make sure you don't cut the stock pipe too short.

Lastly, after the install, run the engine and check for leaks by placing your hands on the side of the clamps. If you don't feel any heat/air escaping then you should be good.

My other option is to have this installed by a dyno equipped local shop and get the baseline and exhaust hp #'s. I still am debating between the two options.

Easiest way to check for leaks is to use soap water...
Put some soap water on where a leak might be, and let the engine run... if there are bubbles, there's a leak!

I'll take it out for a nice drive later and push it a little more
