This just goes to show that even the newer BMW's can be maintained DIY style and can make it to these higher mileages. |

Outstanding. I do hope my E92 serves me as well. I'm still below 50K miles, but your story is inspiring.

Our 2007 E91 has only 109000 miles
No major repairs or oil usage so far. Still have original brakes. It's a 6spd manual.
Maintained per BMW recommendations. Our 2000 E46 has 188000 miles and is going strong. Also only follow BMW recommendations. Also expecting 250000 at least for both cars. No complaints here Re BMW reliability! |

Awesome to see such longetivity in a BMW. I think the fact that it didn't have turbos (sorry 335ers) and is a manual is helping your cause.
As for those who are jumping on the BMW longetivity bandwagon and saying this proves something are not really thinking like scientists. One data point doesnt really prove anything. This guy has a freaking lift in his house! Obviously it was maintained well. And his mileage seems to be pretty easy-going, so I wouldn't jump to any assumptions regarding how long BMW's usually last. I do plan on keeping mine for over 150k and will hopefully follow the "Mike Miller" maintenance plan, but am willing to do most of the work myself. Let's hope more people post about their 200k+ mileage reports though!

It's refreshing to see posts like this about people who use their cars for many years and hundreds of thousands of miles. It seems like most forum members swap their cars out every few years as evident by their signatures showing all their former "retired" vehicles. With proper maintenance, our cars can last quite a while whereas many people seem to think cars are commodities that must be dumped once they are passed their warranty period. It's amusing to read about how worried people get when their warranty is up, like somehow their cars are going to completely fail at that point.
