BMW mobility kit vs Slime kit
Am thinking of going to non-RFTs so starting to look at options for a mobility kit.
There's a BMW kit (not sure whether or not it includes the 'goo' itself), and there's the green Slime Spair kit (lot cheaper). I've read the BMW kit is expensive but better built. Can the 'goo' stuff in either kit be removed from the tyre so it can be professionally repaired/balanced? Is there enough goo in the kit for more than one puncture? Will they repair punctures in the tread as well as sidewall? Can you just use the compressor to say inflate bike tyres? Do both options require taking the valve off the tyre? cheers |

The BMW mobility kit's goo will ruin the tyre, the goo is too hard for a tyre shop to remove fully.
I'd say just go for the slime kits you can get from supercheap. The slime they use is water soluble so you can repair the tyre with a patch if needed.

I bought slime kit with compressor at less than $50 at SCA when they had promotion.
I also got the slime product in something like a compressed air can, I was told that this is a more advanced product from slime and can just inject into the tyres directly without the use of the compressor. |

That's good to know mate! I'll swap out the BMW stuff in my mobility kit and replace it with Slime.

I hit a pothole last week. It punctured the side wall (235/35/19). No damage to rim. I have the slime kit with pump. Unfortunately the hole was to big to seal.
When getting the tyre changed, the tyre shop washed the rim with water and the green slime/sealant came off easy.

I covered this in my build thread thanks to Twenza who informed me the BMW stuff is overrated and difficult to remove from the flat tyre/rim:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=739 The slime stuff is also much cheaper than the bmw mobility kit slime, so win win! Also guys you may not be aware but your bmw mobility kit fluid has a storage life. It actually physically hardens in the jar, I had one from my previous car that had set like concrete in the jar! |

If any of you guys are interested in the GardX tyre goo we still have plenty of stock of this. at $30 for a can its much cheaper and easier than the Genuine BMW tyre sealant. Plus your tyre can be re-used and repaired as the GardX formula is able to be washed out of the tyre. |

Thanks guys
Do the ones in a can contain enough air to at least partially inflate a flat tyre? Twenza- can you put up some details about the GardX or PM me? Anyone out there actually successfully used either the compressor based system or one of these cans? Last edited by satz; 07-14-2016 at 09:23 PM.. |
