How to bypass security check in the navigation with a new burned navigation dl dvd
hi,
many of you had the same problem, if we wanted to use the latest navigation dual layer dvd of europe, we had to buy it, because in many cars the dvd could not be read... so i analyzed the file structure of the dvd, i saw that the idrive is running on a linux/unix system(ELF binaries) and it has an own web server and uses htm files for generating of the user interface so ive tried to shrink the dl dvd image to a single layer dvd. what do you have to do, to bypass the security check: 1. save your dvd image to an iso file 2. edit this file with for example UltraISO or a different iso editor 3. delete all directories inside the directory: tpd\ntcBeuFNM_eu_20080401\ except of ENG or the language that you want to use 4. edit the file: tpd\ntcBeuFNM_eu_20080401\INFO15.PSC 5. remove all the information about removed languages (see attached file) 6. save and burn the dvd image 7. enjoy it merry xmas Last edited by barabas; 12-19-2008 at 02:20 AM.. |

The navigation DVDs do not have copy protection. I know since I always have to burn a copy to again add speedcameras.
What you might experience though is that the navigation DVD drive seems to have issues reading most kinds of DVD+R DL media, and as such it is likely that your copy will not work, or give errors after hitting a bump in the road. This started with version 2008-2 and the workaround that we found was to remove some data (POI translations) to again get it to fit on a single layer disk. Here is the original thread, a quick search turned it up http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138762 |

is this easy to do with US based info? Like the POI thing I recall reading it last time that you could reorganize it but if it's difficult I'll have to skip it haha

Basically you use these instructions after you get a .asc file with the POI data http://www.bmwnavaddpoi.co.uk/ |
