BMW Dealer pushing Valvoline

I wonder what Valvoline had to do to get this business. I was under the impression that only BMW oil (Castrol Euro) & Mobil1 were certified for use in our engines?

Hassel BMW Mini is pleased to announce that we now offer Valvoline Premium Blend oils to match your vehicle and driving conditions:

SynPower - ideal for high-performance vehicles that need high-temperature protection
MaxLife - best for vehicles with 75,000+ miles
DuraBlend - perfect for Trucks, SUVs and other vehicles that work hard during stop-and-go traffic, frequent trips, hauling and towing
Premium Blue - just the thing for diesel engines
Using the right premium oil for your vehicle offers additional protection. Learn more about the special properties of each oil at www.valvoline.com

To celebrate this new product launch, Hassel BMW Mini and Valvoline are offering a special promotion with your next Premium oil change.

FREE* Mail in offer for a Valvoline retro T-Shirt or 8 Issues of Woman's Day magazine ($1.99 shipping and Handling required)
Receive a NEXT VISIT Voucher CHECK* redeemable for $8 or $15 OFF on any future service depending on the type of oil change performed.
* Offer expires May 1, 2008. T-shirt and magazine offers available while supplies last. Voucher check is payable to the store location where you purchased service and valid for 120 days from issue. See store for additional details and mail in form.

Thank you,

After a little research, I found that Valvoline Synpower is now an approved BMW motor oil:

Interesting. Now if they would only approve canola so I can top off my ever burning oil issue a lot cheaper(and nicer smelling).

Very interesting.....
Elf-Total and Pentosin are approved for BMW and are 100% synthetic and capable of going the 15k between changes. The key part of the announcement is " Valvoline Premium Blend oils" Blended oils are generally not 100% synthetic. I'd think if there was synthetic oils being offered they would state it's "synthetic". I would stick to the LL01 and LL04 spec oils for a late model BMW.

Edit
I see if you go to the website they state it is synthetic but I can't find the BMW approval.

whatever is better than the regular BMW oil they use now...because that stuff cokes and leaves all sorts of muck and residue behind in the engine..I find it all the time when I break down higher mileage engines.

I switched to Valvoline Oil after my first 1200 miles....the bottom of my oil cap has been nice and clean...not dirty and brown like a lot of other peoples.
