Rally drivers are better at RALLYING

Circuit racing drivers are better on CIRCUITS

Practice and experience are pretty fundamental factors here. It's not all about innate skill.

I agree, but a rally driver AINT a racing driver.

And this is the case BECAUSE he has spent his time honing his RALLY skills and not his circuit skills.

The innate abilities required are very similar ... mechanical sympathy, hand to eye co-ordination, spacial awareness, fast reflexes and the ability to find the quickest line through a corner .. all apply to both disciplines.

It's like comparing heart surgeons to brain surgeons. They are both good, but a brain surgeon wouldn't make quite as good a job of a triple bypass.

Yeah i agree. But im not just talking the circuit vs stage driving style etc. Im talking about being a racer. With that instinct. A racing driver can put in lap after lap superhuman times. like Senna and Schumacher did. They can also battle and fight through a grid of other win hungry racing drivers.

But i do love both disciplines and commend both type drivers for their talent.

I see no difference at all to Colin or friends on a charge through the pack. Only consistency, determination and desire to beat others will see them get onto the podium.

There is also the fact that Colin exhibited this focused desire to win, whether it be in the forest, in a touring car, at Le Mans, on a motorbike, boats, roller skates etc., etc.

EXACTLY the same attributes - just a different medium. Neither is "lesser" as it appears you allude to.
